What do we do during sleep and why do we need it?
What do we do because of the lack of sleep?
Explain please

Because otherwise we go insane and kill a whole bunch of people beacuse they are STUPID MOTHER

Well sleep restores he bodys energy and what we do when we sleep is dreaming lol pretty simple.
The question of why we sleep is actually not clearly answered.
The best explanation is that sleep is needed for our brains to perform reorganisation of all the things we've done or experienced in the day which have altered the nervous pathways in the brain.
Basically, when we sleep, the brain does some housekeeping.
When you don't sleep, you can't process information as quickly; your attention span decreases; you become irritable; eventually you begin to hallucinate and lose touch with reality. After a long time you will collapse into an extremely deep sleep or die.
i sleep walk so we have to lock our knives in a cabinet.
jk bout the knives part but i do sleepwalk like ill be asleep in my bed then wake up on our couch. weird eh?
Its great how people think you need 8+ hours of sleep. Ive gone off 4 hours a night for a month. I was made to do it, but it had no adverse effects on my body. I grabbed zzz whenever I could. The point of what I just said is that sleep is not as important as people make it out to be.
I can describe what it isliko stay up for days
Your body heat stays high you hear things other people dont you walk slow but think its fast you find your self passing bakc and fourth and when you go to sleep you only get a few hours asleep before your body wakes you up.
yes will is correct about the hallucinations. i tired to break a record of no sleep and at 3 days straight i started seeing the ground ripple as i stepped and i would see shadows running around all over the place. and my friend said i keep talking to my right shoe and i despised the left one. this was during summer... i fell asleep for 2 days after that. i woke up and ate everything in the fridge and got grounded for depleting our food in 1 day.
the moral of this story?
dont eat.. it gets you in trouble..
Not sleeping wont kill you, halucinations are personal based, some people have them, some dont same with the amount of sleep you need, somepeople need 8 hours a night , some need 1 hour of sleep and can still maintain everyday stuff. But not sleeping has no permenant effects, eventually you WILL fall asleep though.
There are some people who have some wierd disorder and dont sleep... no tiredness... hasnt sleeped in 30 years this one woman...
I only get 4/6 hours of sleep per night and I only feel slightly tired during the day.
Oh, and yes you can theoretically die from lack of sleep: Rats that were forced to stay awake (cruel I know) died after about 12 days.
But still, sleep is when your brain reorganises itself and streamlines the neurone pathways that are responsible for the things you've learned that day.
Here's an example: You learn how to work out a particular type of maths question in a day. Your brain has set up some pathways while you learned it, and these pathways allow you to work out these kinds of questions again. Unfortunately, to work out these questions, the brain has to go through inefficient pathways: A-C-D-B to get from A to B. This slows down your working out of the questions. When you go to sleep, the brain sorts things out, making the pathway go straight from A to B. It has to do this with everything you've experienced during the time you've been awake.
I think that when you go without sleep for too long the pathways that the brain has made start to get stupidly long and cross over each other etc. This explains things like hallucinations...
