Well seen as there is the new "Melee Division" i thought i would ask this question how do i place a start location right beside the minerals and still have it work in the game, kinda like a fastest map or micro jail.
Uhhh, place it right next to minerals? Just put it next to them and click.

if you place it too close to the minerals, they will delete minerals. so its best to use starforge and use a grid

do most map makers use starforge or xtra?
If they have any sense they use starforge and SCMdraft for terraining. Noobs use X-tra because they can't seem to understand how to make a trigger in a text-based editor.
If you have ever played a fastest map you would see that scvs/drones/probes do not have to move away from the minerals to deposit them in your Comand center or what ever you are using i made a micro map awhile ago i placed the startlocation as close as i could to the minerals and when i went into the game all there was, was a comand center and some scvs. so could you tell me why this happend to my map and how it was avoided in fastest maps?

Its about preference, and i know how to use a text-based system, i do programming for a course! However i prefer the interface for X-Tra Editor 2.6, and feel happy using it.
StarForge isn't my first choice, because i don't need to have it to make my maps, and not using it doesn't make me a noob.
dont suppose we could get back to the topic and answering my question could we? this is great and all for whoever asked what good editors were and if it is that impostant im sure they can create there own thread.
Just use StarForge or SCM Draft 2. What's the problem?
First off, DONT MAKE MONEY MAPS, they are the downfall of Starcraft. Second, dont use Starforge or SCMDraft for Melee terrain, Use X-tra Base Editor, or better yet, the original Campaign Editor.
StarForge and SCM Draft 2 can create cool effects like extra-wide bridges, or ocean side cities. Also you can make roads that look exact, instead of all torn up. Plus sprites can be added from other tilesets too. Imagine the Sarlaac on Twilight

hmm i think that the solution was alot more simple than i first thought

, and thank you for your
opinion on whether or not i should make a money map but that really isnt relevant.
wow, i thought everyone knew how to do this...
but this knowledge sucks since money maps suck
but if you want to make one, no one is stopping you!
well, if they really hated you they could get you banned...
just get mapping already!
