Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> start/stop 2x/8x speed in-game?

i was wondering if you could start a game on fastest, and then start the 2x speed trick or the 8x speed trick, or even stop and restart them afterwards.

Well, since they involve P13/P14 units you can't make them ingame so if you wanted to "start" it in mid you couldn't. Hoever I don't know what happens if you remove the P14 unit....

Wouldnt you be able to make them in-game using SF triggers? Correct me if I'm wrong..

You cannot create units for player 9+

Starcraft on its own isn't able to recreate certain units, and in this case, certain players. Therefore it wouldn't be possible with normal Starcraft.

However it is impossible with an MOD version of Starcraft, if you just create the right code and such for Arsenal III, ArrEdit, IceCC, MPQDraft, WinMPQ and all those...

i was thinking about making a difficulty setting in the game that involved how fast your reactions were and not how many units had to kill, so could i transfer unit ownership to p14 and have it work???

ADDITION: i dont think that triggers can affect plyers 8+ can they? so what if i moved the location?

The problem is, what will happen when you give the unit back to remove it, and maybe what will happen is that it will crash, or more likely it will just remain fast? And so removing and even adding again will do nothing!

hmm well other than what i listed i dont know of anything else that will work, i wish that starcraft didnt crash when you make triggers in the wrong way : / they should fix that in a patch

What would you prefer, nothing to happen and the game to just sit there? I suppose a good feature would be a form of a debugger, but then, they would effect what you could do with the editor, and so limit you! Its difficult but get used to it and work around it.

im not so sure that the game crashing is much better either

ADDITION: what if i created several areas where there is the p14 thing and just activated/deactivated as needed?

I doubt you're be able to pull this off, and the majority do crash it, it likes Scarabs though! Try one of those in the corner.

1. 8x speed does not exist, it is 4x speed.

2. It is possible to create units for players 9-12.

3. It is not possible to give units to or create units for players 13-256.

4. It is possible to give units owned by any player to the main players(Players 1-12).

5. Players 13-256 recorded effects are for the Windows version of Starcraft: Broodwar.

I was lead to understand you can only create units for Player 12, interesting i'll explore it for the other choices then!

I'm actually not 100% sure you can, but I think so.

You can give units to P12, so that means you can create units for P12?

Deathknight concerning point number 3, and also considering that the trigger seems to like scarabs, and that i cannot creat units for player 14, i beleive that i can pre-place a reaver for player 14, i suppose i could use somin to get the scarabs out and just have the trigger execute once its in, but the question i sitll have is, can i have multiple areas where i can stop/start ex or 4x speeed?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2004-10-16 at 14:18:55
The thing is, you CAN'T have a pre-placed reaver for Player 14 or it would crash in Starcraft. wink.gif

well hmm... i cant think of anything then : / where there is a newby there is an answer damn it! pinch.gif and i take it that the answer to my question, can i stop/start the trigger, is no. alas

I'm pretty sure that you can give the player fourteen or thirteen unit to another player, and then back again with triggers. I know that you can do it with players 36, and 48. If you do this I'm not sure what will happen, but seeing as you cannot create the unit for these players, your only chance is to give it to them.
