Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> My switches are skipping 1 trigger
Report, edit, etc...Posted by xtremebob on 2004-10-16 at 03:39:30
My triggers are set up like this:

[COND]
[c]Set Switch 1
[c]Player 1 bring marine to location X
Trigger
Actions:
¤ remove marine at location X for player 1
¤ Create 1 marine for player 2 at location A
¤ Clear Switch 1
¤ Set Switch 2

[COND]
[c]Clear Switch 2
[c]Player 1 bring marine to location X
Trigger
Actions:
¤ remove marine at location X for player 1
¤ Create 1 marine for player 2 at location B
¤ Clear Switch 2
¤ Set Switch 3

[COND]
[c]Clear Switch 3
[c]Player 1 bring marine to location X
Trigger
Actions:
¤ remove marine at location X for player 1
¤ Create 1 marine for player 2 at location C
¤ Clear Switch 3
¤ Set Switch 4

ECT.
I do this trigger for a total of 10 times, but whenever I bring a marine to location X, It skips location A and creates to marine at location B, THen I bring Another marine to location X, I creates 1 in location D, ect.
I am pretty new to switches and just started to understand them, but for all the other switches in this map that I put in that were a bit more difficult to place and they work, why won't this one work? Well anyways if you find the problem don's hesitate to help. Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

you have the condition for the triggers as Clear switch 1, it should be: switch 1 is set

Damn I'm not good at asking for question sad.gif
What I mean is that when you bring the unit to Location X you create a unit at loaction A and no other unit will be created at that location.
Well anyway, waht is happening is that, when you bring the marine to the location, It is moved and given to another player. Then that location is set and will not recieved anymore units a that location by Location X. Then the next location "Location B" will recieve the next marine when another marine is brought to location X.
I'm pretty sure I will have to either scrap the current triggers I got set up, because I severely screwed up, or I just need to switch a few things, but I am a little to inexperienced in switches and throw a wrench into my triggers. I've gotten to many to screw it up now...
I hope this makes more sense wink.gif
P.S: I did do what you posted and it didn't work sad.gif

Not really sure what the problem is, but try it with dath counters. They are simpler and better for everything except randomizing.

Once again I solved my problem by doind something so basic it ridiculous tongue.gif
I now deem myself the master of all overthinkers laugh.gif
This my new thrigger and it works perfectly :sigh:
Trigger
Conditions:
¤ Player 1 brings at least 1 marine to location X
Actions:
¤ Remove marine at location X
¤ Create 1 marine at location A

Trigger
Conditions:
¤ Player 1 brings at least 1 marine to location X
Actions:
¤ Remove marine at location X
¤ Create 1 marine at location B

ECT.
Ya kicking my ass for this lol.

ADDITION: Well now I've got a question that still involve this but is different.
The thing is that, when you bring a marine to Location X five times, it will create marines at five different location, but when I hit the sixth one, I want it to prevent the unit to created at Location F (There are ten locations (A-J)). When you bring a marine at location X and there is a marine at Location E, I don't want a marine to be made at Location F, but at the same time I want to show a text saying what is happening telling you why you can't create the unit at the location. Well anyway I got the part where where there is a marine at Location E that you can't create a marine at Location F, but the text won't show. (I hope you understand what I mean up to now...) This is the trigger I've got set up right now.

Trigger
Conditions:
¤ Player 2 brings exactly 1 marine to location X
¤ Switch 1 is set
Actions:
¤ Remove marine at location X
¤ Display text: Blah Blah Blah
¤ Set switch 1

I hope this makes sense, it does to me...
Once again thanks in advance.

ADDITION: Man I need to try every basic thing before I post here..... Once again I tried a thing that I was sure would not work and it worked...
Man I need to brought out back and shot rifle.gif pinch.gif
