Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Bound Larva trigger
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Peet Fargison on 2004-10-17 at 01:28:14
Hey I was wondering what the trigger was for the larva levals in bounds. Say there were 10 larva what would the trigger be so when your ling touches it the ling dies!? I feel like a newb asking this, but hey guess what! I AM!! So yeah if you could kinda explain why it works how ever it works that would be cool so I would know hwo to use it and not just like copy past kinda a thing and not get why it does what it does. Thanks! jester.gif

Report, edit, etc...Posted by Screwed on 2004-10-17 at 02:20:54
battlekruiser, i think Fargison thought u are referring to the zerglings as larvaes so he thought in order to obtain a location for all the larvaes he needs a location centered on the larvaes each distinguished by each player.

Well, thats what he thought ... but thats not how u do it.

I'll just build and elaborate on what DT_bc has said, well dattlekruiser is referring to the zergling as the 'bounders'. Each player controls them to dodge the larvaes. You centre a unique individual location on the zerglins each and when the players bring the zergling to a larva (with a location centered on the zergling), it will satisfy the trigger.

Condition-
'Obstacles' bring at least 1 larvae to 'Loation centered of zergling for X player'.
(its the same as u bringing the zergling to the larvae because the larvae has reached the location centered on the zergling)

Action-
Kill all 'Zergling' for 'Player X' at 'Loation centered of zergling for X player'.
Preserve Trigger.

Hope that helps, just re-enforcing what DT said, you should thank him happy.gif

PS: i didn't proof read my post, this may not make sense.

Basically, post #2 means is if a player brings his unit within a certain distance of a larva, then his zergling dies.

God did this go off-topic;

The relationship is that certain "LOCATIONS" are "CENTRED" over a single unit owned by a single "PLAYER".

The "Larva" are the units that bring themselves to the "LOCATIONS", because the "PLAYER" "UNIT" will already be there, therefore you can "KILL" that "UNIT" at that "LOCATIONS" because it will be there.

There we go no need for like 8 triggers or multiple locations [/bows]
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2004-10-18 at 18:16:01
But does the location go over every Zergling? If it does it might lag the kill trigger a little tongue.gif.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2004-10-18 at 18:20:58
But only very small amount.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2004-10-18 at 18:23:46
True, but for seven players that means they have about 84 milli seconds to get away, compared to twelve. But this is irrelevant, Bolt's trigger works fine.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by (U)Bolt_Head on 2004-10-18 at 18:57:01
No i assure you it functions just the same. Lag wise it would proboly be less but its undectectable differance.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2004-10-18 at 19:05:23
Exactly why I said it's irrelevant, Bolt should lock this, the problem is solved.

JEH? If you put something in a force doesn't it just tag it on to all the players triggers in the force ie if I put a trigger in force 1 with players 1 3 and 5 then wouldn't players 1 3 and 5 have the trigger in their triggers when running in game? Plus I though all triggers executed at once, just in the order that they are put in pretty much. Bolt's way should work for all players every 1 second in fastest speed (unless this map has hyper trigs i am not too sure if it does or not then that changes the speed and what not).
Report, edit, etc...Posted by (U)Bolt_Head on 2004-10-19 at 02:41:49
It doesn't matter if it has hyper triggers or not, it still runs at the same speed as if you did it seperatly. Nither of the triggers have waits and nothing can interupt the fact that kill trigger is checked right after the center location trigger.

Yes thermo they pretty much do exicute all at once well, the time triggers exicute is so fast it might as well be instantanous.

PS. sorry RexyRex i'm just trying to get someone to disagree with me so i can prove them wrong lol.
