This is a functionality demo of my map Rocket Launchers. Keep in mind this is Alpha, and there is no true "gameplay" so to speak.

So basically, you've got a Dropship controller to fire rockets. 8 units, each correspond to a direction. The rockets explode on other players and walls as well. Ammo is unlimited for this demo. Have fun blowing the crap out of each other. tongue.gif

Basically, what I need to work on now is game modes.
» Capture the Flag: Need I say more?
» Deathmatch: 3on3 max going at it with a limited number of lives.
» Killfest: The team that gets the most kills in a set amount of time wins.
» King of the Hill (FFA + Team): Spend a certain amount of time in a designated area to win.
» Oddball (FFA + Team): Ever play Halo? smile.gif Player grabs an object and has to hold on to it for a certain amount of time to win.
» Co-op mode? Shooting enemy computers, maybe? I don't know. :/

Known Bugs:
It IS possible to kill yourself with your own Rocket. Hard to do, I've only managed to do it twice.
Occasionally the Rockets may stop. We can call this "laying a mine". tongue.gif

you should be able to kill yourself with your own rocket so dont worry. how unrealistic that would be...

You can't run faster than a bullet... wink.gif

Sounds good. For the modes you should pretty much just do the Halo game types, Hang 'em high, Capture the FLag ETC I like this and it looks like you have a real good idea going. Also, are there special bombs?

i was thinking about a halo rocket launcher map. But thats a good idea

On map night this map was just to good, endless action of staying in the middle and someone else rocketing everyone in the middle without em' knowing tongue.gif hmm, all i suggest is that you should make the dropship load the units in an order so its not always different when you play the map wink.gif

Yeah, I've fixed the order in the demo there. I made pretty nice, with some help from CheeZe(U).

Top Left, Top Mid, Top Right, Mid Left
Bot Left, Bot Mid, Bot Right, Mid Right

"Like driving a car", in his words. tongue.gif

I swore I saw this a while ago. Cool except that I'd like to see further to know where to shoot.

In that case you can create/remove map revealers at the player's unit to make the vision extend further. I've never seen or played the map though. If you do Tux's idea that would be the best way to do it.

This is great, keep it up.

Suggestions:
Powerups..?

Note: I didn't play it so don't yell if there are powerups.

I will be having items that can be toggled on or off at the start of the game.
Ectoplasma: Rockets do not explode on you for a limited time only. However, rockets hitting a wall where you are in the explosion will still kill you.
Rapid Fire: Decreases the time needed to reload your rocket.
Spy Camera: Creates an Observer for you. You can move it freely, but it dies after a limited time.
Stockpile: Infinite ammo for a limited time. Good combo with Rapid Fire. smile.gif

ectoplasmic:
2. b. An immaterial or ethereal substance, especially the transparent corporeal presence of a spirit or ghost.

Hmm. Only complaint I would have is that there would be spots that one could potentially avoid being hit altogether.

Not to mention the firing could get a bit tedious in deciding the direction. People were complaining about the firing system in War Machines... sad.gif

Now, if you could get it to go in 8 directions from where your unit is, that would be impressive. biggrin.gif

ooo its fun.. im sure it can be a lil better if there were more things to do.

You could have a power up that messes with opponents firing, so that it doesn't shoot in right direction, people only ever add power ups that aid the player, not inflict annoying problems to opponents!

When you are near the top of the arena, and you fire a rocket to the "middle right", it goes to the "bottom right".

I know why this happens, but wouldn't it be possible to make it so the missile moves 'right' relative to the location of your templar?

Just center a locationA that has an extremely long width on the HT, and then center a locationB on a building that is on the right side of the arena. Then order the rocket to locationB. Simply use 4 different types of buildings lined on each side.

I guess I'm sort of over-complicating it. smile.gif

Super fun. great idea. high five!!

Your confusing yourself here, the simple way to stop it from going off in wrong direction once i goes to a side is creating a piece of broken terrain all along the ages, so that when it can no longer place itself it stops.

Try the Gunner System with another unit placed nearby, maybe an air unit. It messes the triggers so much!
