Okey, I dl SF cuz everyone says it's so great and all. Well, now I got it.
I want to make a little map, not TO complicated, but still fit the necessery things for a good map.
First when I didn't know what to do in SF, I just did the Terrain in it(I wanted squared), and tried to open the map in X-tra. But it didn't work... x-tra just crashed.

So I thought, oh well, lets try to figure SF out. And I did, atleast the triggers and sprites and terrain and all... But when I try to start my 30% done map, SC just crash!... Do I need to think about alot of things? before using a map, that has been done in SF?...

Well, I said to myself that I could do it in X-tra, if I just got the map to open, all I need from SF is the squared terrain.
Then I remmemberd I need 9 players(6 human, 2comp, 1 neutral)... So I'm back with SF.

Well... anyway, My map dosen't work and I can't find a good tutorial on SF, and all the things you need to think off when using int... etc... etc...

I'm stuck.

And oh, what is "Strings"? how to use em' ?....

Help?...
Thinking about to quite for good with the SF, just causing problems...

(sry, about my wierd grammar and such, hey I'm a Swedish guy)

meh... slow down.. so what is your exact question?

Some sprites cause the game to crash, especially animation sprites. Watch out on using those.

I don't really know the funtion of player 9-11, but if u want player 12, there's a mode in Xtra for it.

For the triggers, there's one thread just in the assistance section about it or you can go thru the map making tricks and help archive (i learnt the sf triggers from there happy.gif)

Strings are the message you display or use in your game. If u type 'Hi' in a display message, you have just made a string. 'Comments' also take up strings. You can only have 1024 strings in each map, so it is always good to consider to recycle and reuse some strings.

Hope that helps.

Are you using Null Terrain? That messes SCXE up, though, probably not to crashing point.... illegal unit?

ADDITION: How do you recycle strings?

Your map is an irregular size.... Make it in sf 64, 96, 128, or 256 by one of those numbers, any others will totally censored.gif SCXE. That means you will need to re-do your terrain though cry.gif

It will... just, SCXE will delete your start locations if they are stacked... no problem though, just recreate them...

wink.gif Well, well, well! tongue.gif

No problem... i guess... i am just extremely bored! tongue.gif

SF is the ultimate editor (if ya know how to use it)

Also, you could make little terrain, but you'd have to do ALL of the triggering in SF.

ADDITION: Little as in like 32x32

Hmm, okey, another Prob happy.gif

I need, as I said, 6humans, 2comps and 1neutral (okey I can fix it without the neutral but still I wanna learn it, not to serious map anyway).

I can do it in SF I know, but I porbobly gonna screw it up. So I think is safer not to do it in SF, Screwed said I could do it with X-tra, how? P12 mode, there is no p12 in that mode...

Download X-Tra Editor 2.5/2.6 and open it up through the MAIN EDITOR, and it will have a style of Editor called P12, that will place them for you in Base Style mode for P12.

After Coko's steps are followed,
Recall 2 afterwords open the map in Base mode (from SCXE, of course) and give the P12 units 2 the players u want'em 2 belong 2, with the properties windows. wink.gif

Don't know if u're gonna use critters either but remember that in the Base mode of SCXE they'll belong 2 the player from wich u placed'em. They won't be neutral as in StarEdit... except if applied with the P12 (neutral) mode. smile.gif

dont forget that you need to make a backup of any file you want to use in starforge. i learned that the hard way.

I'm not sure but if u use ProEdit in it's features (compress and/or string) it will work... happy.gif
But I'm no expert on those.
