That would be "Latency" possibly caused by a firewall... disable it and reinable it after you have ppl you want in your game... or do the ol' "Htk" Trick...(host then kow [for me]) Have someone else host a game then have everyone that you want to join your game to join that and then join yours...

You have to open ports, because sometimes you can't simply turn it off because some are built in XP firewall or some are wireless or ADSL 'router' thingies. Though i have wireless and i tried port opening, it didn't really work.
