Staredit Network

Staredit Network -> UMS Showcase -> Mindless Shooter (quasi-Halloween map)

Yeah another defiler gunner map, but what the hell. I made a Christmas map, so now I make a Halloween one (sorta). This, my friends, is called procrastination. Hopefully this is the last of it too.

Anyway, despite the generic name it's actually kinda fun, though it only took 2 hours to make. The purpose of making this is to get an idea of how the gunner system holds up under a different context; namely survival. The point is simple: you have a timer for 15 minutes, and you have to not die before it reaches its end. Once it does, you have to hurry and get yourself to an escape ship at the bottom of the map.

Gameplay notes: To quickly fire your weapon, use the 'w' keyboard hotkey for the dark swarm spell + click on/near the unit you want to hit. To reload (when your casting energy is used up), simply burrow once. You will automatically unburrow, which'll take a second or two so don't hammer the burrow/unburrow button (which I like to do when I got 14 ultralisks breathing down my neck lol).

Enjoy!

Quite intriguing how you work with that burrow/unburrow thing.

Thx. I reposted v1.1 to fix a few things.

Unless anything else turns up, that's about it for now.

Nifty! I like it! I love using the Darkswarm ability for stuff like that, I made a cool map where it used the darkswarm to select stuff to remove, it was a team puzzle map kinda thing, dont know if I still have it though. But keep up the great work!

Maybe you should make a musciless version to be played on battle.net? I like the music, but the file size is just too large... Good job, I like the map

I strained to get a song that would be reasonably sized for bnet while not too repetative or unfitting, so it's gonna stay where it is for now. You can turn off the music in the bottom corner if you want, though (toggle siege tanks).

Uploaded v1.2. Nothing new, just made it easier overall and added hp lessening for each shot (so the cannons can do more dmg). If you can't shoot fast enough though you'll still die quickly.

I'll give it a go tonight, interesting that your bumping out these quick maps, shows that your improving your own ability to complete started projects, maybe a sign of trying to stop yourself focusing on other things, maybe even R.L.

Tuxedo, toggling the music means nothing to me once I have already downloaded the map because it is already there, I was complaining about the size of the map and the pain to download. The best way to play it is to have someone dl it from here before you play, saving time on b.net.

Tux does it again. The way you make systems like reloading is fascinating.
