What are some common reasons for a game to crash?

Note: I didn't disable any doodad states

What do you mean? Like when there's an error and it crashes, or when you want someone to crash, so you put a unit that makes them crash on the map?

Like when I create the game I made, I go in and starcraft crashes and exits to windows. I tested my map occasionally when I was making it and it never happened. Now it's done and it crashes, and no, I didn't protect it yet.

I'm guessing you have a unit that makes you crash somewhere on your map. Most of those Unused units on SF and Xtra make starcraft crash.

Common Ones:
[] Units/Buildings/Doodads placed, partially off the side of the map will lead to a crash.
[] nViewing certain, "Extra Units" will cause a crash.
[] Editing the Triggers/Sprites heavily can lead to it.

I used Xtra in Classic Mode so I doubt I placed any unit off the map

I don't think I used extra units. Also, Starcraft crashes instantly when I go into the game no matter what force I'm in.

I never edit triggers or touch sprites because I'm not even good with them.

Oh my, this is soooooo annoying. It worked all the time until the last moment.

Hard to say the issue, maybe the map got corrupted, it happens.

Perhaps you could send us the map, and we could find the problem for you.

Though, other than that suggestion, I can't help you much;
Crashing, what causes it, and the most common cases of it does not fit into my area of expertise. Sorry.
I just don't get my maps to crash much wink.gif

Upload the map so we can look at whats wrong, then fix it, then send it back. If you don't trust us, then we can't help you.

...There are no triggers?

Also Disabling/Enabling units that shouldn't be disabled/enabled.

Ta - Da seems to fit the question quite well.

Should add to the tutorial at some point that only unit-sprites can crash the game and pure sprites never do.

I don't edit that anymore. After V4 i just got pissed that it destoryed my formating.

Well, I've had that happens to me a lot with my maps. I have found a possible reason as to why it does that too, but I'm not sure if it will make much sense.
ANYWHO, this is what i found as to why it might happen,
Okay, sometimes when I edit my map, and i put buildings and such in it, it will crash for no reason, yet when I remove whatever i just put in before i tested that, it works just fine, so my conclusion is that sometimes a unit will get irregularly placed somewhere. If that is a little too general for you, well, then, tough. I wouldn't know how to dumb it down.
So, to fix it, remove units you placed up to the last time it was working, then manually replace the units again.
That's what I did to all the maps that that happened in, and afterwards it didnt do it anymore.

Also, i have noticed that it will sometimes happen when you use more than one editor like SCXE and SF or SCMd1(or2), ykno, when the error comes up that it cant be written on, but it still saves it anyway. (i dont have an explanation for that reason though, it just seems to happend in conjuction with that error)

REASONS FOR A MAP TO CRASH THAT I KNOW OF:

•The way terrain is layed out, not sure how, can give you a "Not enough corridors" or something error.

•Units placed off the map crash.

•Using triggers or conditions outside the trigger range.

•Using certain triggers like set doodad state on units that do not support it.

•Using players above 12.

•Using certain units that may crash the game and units above unit ID 227.

•Using certain sprites.

•Using certain sprite-units(probably disabled ones).

•Altered string limit.

•Unusual map size.

•No Start Location.

•Too many units on one screen.

•Player type and/or race is not valid.

•Player is a different colour.

•Glitches are performed.

That's all I could think up right now...
