File (usually movies or mp3s) pirating is becoming more and more serious. In my home country, people burnt albums of singers and sold it for under one fifth of the price you would get for a original one. It is cheap because the seller does not have the copyright to sell the product which also means they have no registration or record that they are selling the product. In that way, they can earn all the profit without paying a portion of the money earned to the album artist, producer and tax (government). Poor singers.
Post your thoughts.
Herm... I already sell herm...Burned CD's...

My most seriouse offense is burning my Starcraft. I always use backups incase something bad happens. Good thing I do use copies. One of my CD's was infected by a virus. Another one fell out of my hand, hit the floor, and cracked. The third CD fell on the floor and got very scratched up. I don't want to risk the original. I owe my happiness to burning. Now I'm trying to take files off of Starcraft (mainly the campaign). Due to burning and downloading music, artists are doomed to live a life of semi-luxury. It's still better than having to live with 56k.
NO! PIRATING BAD! Halo 2 was pirated, but at least it won't hurt the release date! The worst thing i've ever done is burn a back-up copy of sc. However, it doesn't work unless you have the original cd, so it's not as bad as making a perfect copy of sc.
only downloaded a few songs i really wanted but couldnt find and made a few mix cds that i only have 1 copy of so no bastard could sue me for copyright infringement (im not selling it am i?)
This is generating only replies of people's votes, and no serious moral discussion built for this forum.
>>Garbage
A StarCraft CD can't get a virus... LMFAO~!~!111`1!!! And it also won't crack just by dropping it on the floor.
File pirating blows, I hate it and I hope you all die if you do. Actually I downloaded a song once but then I bought the CD. I do pirate software a lot that requires a Key code like Hex Workshop.
For me, I download ROMs sometimes, generally not for games I have.
But I have no guilt:
The game companies aren't losing any money.
And if you disagree, then tell me how they lose money.
EDIT: Also, by that, I mean that my particular case of ROMming doesn't lose them money.
I can't say that for all other ROM users, but many cases are probably similar to mine anyways.
It makes them lose money if you download the games instead of buying them. Then there's the emotional pain knowing a bunch of faggot little teenage

es are stealing your stuff. Actually I have a whole bunch of SNES ROMs.
I burned a cd that a friend lent me because mine got borken when my cdplayer got droped form a 3rd floor
How did that happen

(the cd player falling)
I was hearing [LP] next to a window and my friend went running to me and jumped and the cd player went down the window and went
SPLAT!
At least i still got the headphones
Yar! I have done it before laddy.
Don't get me started on pirating. I pirate everything, from Windows 95 to XP, Office 97 - 2004. All my games are pirated including Starcraft and broodwar, all my songs are pirated which is about 400-500. I pirate movies sometimes when I'm bored. As you can see, I pirate almost everything, it really saves money.
"It makes them lose money if you download the games instead of buying them"
How'd I know you'd say that?
Think of this:
ROMs aren't very important to me.
If they never existed, all that would change to me is I would never play Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, Super Mario Rpg, and a plethora of other games.
But there's no way in hell I'm paying $30 for a game that's worth about 10 hours of entertainment.
Either I'll get it for free if I can, or I won't get it at all.
And then there's games such as Super MArio Rpg LotSS, Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, Castlevania Original, and many many other games that I would never, ever play.
Simply because I would have no way to get them other than roms.
Heck, I burn movies, music, stuff, all off the internet and put them on disks and give them to the friends that want them! lol
To be honest I alrdy got for movies/shows are:
LOTR-TT
LOTR-ROTK
AVP

Well, I only hack game because:

File Pirating is communism, because you're enjoying things you don't deserve to be enjoying. It makes everyone equal even though they're clearly not. The people who are pissed off the most are the people who are better than you and would be able to afford these things honestly.
Admitadely, prices are outrageous. I'd actually encourage people who would have bought the programs anyway to steal them instead. It actually pisses me off MORE when people who wouldn't have wanted to buy the things anyway steal them.
Question, how do you pirate your operating system? Don't you need an operating system to pirate the stuff in the first place? On second thought, don't answer that. But I'm leaving the question up.
ADDITION: Also, I just read that article someone posted. That guy is a dumb

. He didn't even talk about file pirating, he talked about copying a CD for ones own use. Wow... just.. wow. That was really stupid.
i have more than $4,000 in pirated software on my computer
I would never buy the programs, and I'm not making money off the programs
However, when I become of age -- and when I have a professional job I will buy some of the programs I use more frequently.
Salacious, you pirate a OS by taking a friends install cd and applying the appropriate crack.
I was thinking of downloading the OS.
Anyway... let me sum up my views a little clearer:
If you would happily pay for products of reasonable price, but are unable to do so do to outrageous prices, and decide to pirate the products to get back at the evil bureacratic companies, then your plight is noble.
If you never thought to get any of these games and care little of economic insanity, and simply steal products because you can and are able to profit from your deeds, then you are worthless hog

and your damnation is assured and eternal.

Artanis, one question how is it possible to have downloaded all those OS. You kinda have to have an operation system to begin with to run the P2P program (whatever it may be).
