is there a way to subtract the hp of a unit instead of setting it?
no there isnt from what i know but you could teleport the unit to an area with a unit then let the unit damage it once then teleport it back for an alternate idea.
So that I'm not repeating what urmum has just said, if your game is an rpg, you can use virtual health systems for the heroes.
Those include
minerals = health
zergling burrowed underneath = health
Death COunter = Health
and a few more.
Those virtual health systems are useful because you can directly add or subtract the amount (health) from them.
it is a rpg but it happens with a explostion to your enemies
yeah... blizz needs to add a WHOLE bunch more triggers......
i would name em all but im too lazy.
if you use the hyper triggers you barely notice that your unit was gone
[offtopic]hey illusion my old map making buddy that taught me everything when i was in your clan![/offtopic]
o now i under stand how to do it thanks guys
cant u just use the thing where it sais set unit hp...and then put subtract...or am i thinking of scores...
Yeah if you could make up nonexistant triggers that would be fine.
You must be thinking of score like you said. Theres no way your advanced if you didn't know that.
An interesting way of doing it is using something similar to that worked out by Tux for his Gun Map, you work with two/four counters, in this case two, which represent Integer to the value of 0+ and 0- and have something burrowed as the attacked unit of the player, maybe a lot of them, with only one not invincable at a time, and you work the deaths through that, so that it may start positive and go minus.
The reason i prefer two, is it helps it helps in Leadership boards, and is easier to work with.
I got confused bolt head it was like 4 o clock in the morning and i just got done making a map that had to do with scores.

If i needed my counter to go negitive i would just make the initial value higher (alot higher than the lowest expected negitive value). Like define 1000 deaths as 0hp or whatever your using it for.
Here's a "virtual" Hp system I came up awhile ago. I just threw down some units and terrain real fast. Hope it will help you.

Good job tec but some times it will not subtract the health.
It does subtract health everytime a ling is killed, it just does it to fast to tell sometimes. And others when your getting barraged by enemy attack and they kill more then 2 at a time itll subtract 10 instead of 5. Also, you can change the amount of damage the units do, such for boss levels and different areas, by making a location aroudn the area ya want the enemies to do more and making it set a number of deaths for that player which you then make another triggers for life subtraction and if you have exactly 1 death of the unit, the life subtracts say 10 instead of 5 every time.
If you want to do this non virtually.
For hp subtraction, teleport your unit to a secluded area with an infested terran with their damages set to however much hp you want subtracted from your unit. And once the infested terrans are gone, move ur unit back. If your unit is air, just replaced infested terran with scourge.
Now for hp addition, if only your unit is biological, then move ur unit to a secluded area with a medic. Then move ur unit back after a period of time.
