Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> zerg unit burrowing.. transform!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PsykoticNin on 2004-10-31 at 13:42:00
k im beein trying to make a transformers map with a different concept
basicly when a zerg unit burrows it gets replaced by another unit thus "transforming" and when it unburrows it reverts to its zerg form.. but i cant seem to make it work.. so im wondering is it possible to even do this? huh.gif

i was thinking along the lines of using locations that only work for different elevations.. thus detecting burrowed units?? i dunno, please help

well umm i dont know if you can detect if a unit is burrowed or not but to make it unburrow center a location on it and then do the order units to the location you centered on the zergling

This is not possible you cant burrow a zergling and then it will be transformed into another unit.

Wrong again. I believe there are ways of detecting burrowing although you can't do it simply.

could you explain to me how ?? biggrin.gif

Do you want something like this?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PsykoticNin on 2004-10-31 at 15:05:02
k that works for when it burrows, the unit changes.. how about when it unburrows and it reverts back to original unit?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by NeoNightmareX on 2004-10-31 at 15:20:26
i think i kno wat he means, but to do this, u need to have all zerg units

Players - All People Who Transform
-----------------------------------------
Conditions - Current Player brings exactly 1 Zergling to location anywhere2(for low ground only)
-----------------------------------------
Actions - Remove 1l Zerglings at Anywhere2 owned by Current Player
Create 1 Hydralisk for current player at Anywhere2
-----------------------------------------

i think thats wat he means but im not sure if that will work, but it probably will

???

You can make it so, that the new Unit has to burrow to transform back mellow.gif

Edit: look at the attached map. wink.gif [attachmentid=2639]

Is there even an underground location? Never bothered looking. If there is I guess it's do-able but I don't think there is...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by XxXFaNtA on 2004-10-31 at 15:57:10
No there isnt an "underground location"...
The only way to detect a burrowed Unit is to move a ground Unit (zergling) to a location [smaller then 1x1] (which is centered on the ZergUnit) and move it back...When the Unit isnt burrowed, the Unit who where moved to the Location will be replaced and you can move it back...and when the ZergUnit is burrowed, the Unit can "teleport" to this location and you can now make something (transforming, unburrowing, play a wave, ...)

sorry for my bad english...but i hope you could understand a bit ;D

i looked at the triggers in that Detecting Defiler map, none of the triggers have a defiler unit in it.. or am i not looking hard enough..

Just make it easy on yourself, use beacons =D
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Zero on 2004-10-31 at 16:12:54
just do it when u bring a unit to a location then it transforms..kinda like what pears mentioned...

look under every trigger, if it seems possible, look under all the commented and un-commented that are under the play that detec it, and if they arent there, look under the owner's triggers

Well, maybe someone could ask Tuxedo-Templar how he did it in his new map, that ''mindless'' shooter thing. Because when you burrowed your defiler it came back up with all new energy. I'm not sure how he did it, but that is the same thing that you want to do I know so maybe if bolt or Tuxedo-Templar could come in they could help you. I had this idea for a trigger system, instead of using dropships but it just didn't work for me.

Ha Ha simple
[attachmentid=2645]

This is exactly what you asked for. 4 triggers, + hypers and the hyper triggers are not really needed.

PS, Paella. to have it do the energy thing that tux talked about would be very similer to what i just did except it would use set energy instead of changing the unit.
