Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Unit/Sprites not appearing...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2004-11-01 at 00:12:15
For some reason when I place units 228 and above in my map, they don't appear in game.
I tried unit 2008 which I know works because I used it before after seeing Kenoli's map.

I tried placing normal units(0-227) and they work fine...

Are you placing them for a player higher then player 8? If so this sometimes causes it not to appear.

I tried, originaly, Player 6, then P8, and P1(me).

So, no, they're not for players above 8.

maybe you changed the settings for the sprites and it messed it up somehow

Uh, placing them for a different player doesn't make them disappear. Drop that mapping skill boy.

Have you tried placing it on a different tileset? Have you tried placing it alone an a map with 2 other start locations and a unit for you? It might be the unit settings, not sure.

Well, the thing is, I'm too lazy to bother completely re-creating the map I use for messing around...
it doesn't have much, but I'm very lazy.

Also, I was able to place them before.

I opened my map, and succesfully did Kenoli's long-range-special-effects(sprite 2008).

Then, I deleted the terrain I used for it, the few triggers I had related to it, and decided to make some terrain in top right corner where I can place units for 228 and above(I know that testing ahs already been done for high-id units, but I decided to try it myself for the hell of it).

Now I can't get the units to appear.

"maybe you changed the settings for the sprites and it messed it up somehow"
Err... I doubt that I accidentaly changed it into a sprite, then changed one of the unit settings for it other than ID...
and did thazt every time I deleted, and placed a new one...

It was worth a try, and I have no clue as to why they're not working.
Besides, I might have forgotten a start location or something. Bleh.

And I'm pretty sure that they would work if I did remake my map, which I suppose I should do anyway, but I wanna know how to fix this without starting over, in case it happens to me while I'm, say, 50% into Metroid Evolution and have to start over.

if you are using starforge, it has a LOT of bugs, (no offense Heim) so thats probably one of the bugs but if you are using another editor, im clueless
