how do you make a map being only able to be played on ums. No i am not dumb and i know you can set it to melee or ums. but on the map SWAT, it wont let you create it on melee. when you try to, it will say something like "This map can only be played within the "Use Map Settings" type." How do you do it?
The start locations should be on buildable terrain, like they can have a starting base.
Uh I think the triggers should be the starting ones.
And prolly should make your forces back to the original all humans under 1.
i dont really get what your saying? what does making start locations on buildable terrain and turning all comps into humans and putting them back in the same force do any good?
When you start making a map with SCXE, you see the original triggers, and forces.
The start location should be on placeable terrain for Normal Starcraft. You cannot have it go onto water. THE WHOLE START LOCATION MUST BE ON BUILDABLE TERRAIN!

maybe im missing something here but dont the melee maps have that? Original triggers, forces, start location not on water, and its on buildable terrain...
legacy weapon what he is saying is how do you make it so your map can only be played on USM not melee.
xbakapeterx: i dont know how exactly but some ideas would be the start location, the triggers, or the units you placed. even melee games have triggers i think like so u start with 50 minerals so maybe if you delete those triggers your map will only be able to be played on UMS

That's only because the map is on installation terrain.
Xeno is right, I know this because you can play maps where the start locations are on unbuildable terrain, it just ends the game for those players at the start.
You could do this, if its meant for only UMS, then have some P12 owned units that will crash the game, if you look at the start location and so when the starting buildings are made for players, it will crash. Else play the game and remove them, without viewing the area of start location at the beginning.
Yes, its because its installation-- but anyway, why would you not want people to play your map on melee? Obviously it shouldn't be, but if they want to who cares, it makes no difference.
wat if you tryed to place null terrain would that work too?
Wait, do the 3 triggers that with maps affect melee games? Or do the 3 starting triggers have no use? If not, can u modify Melee games?
They have no use if you play the map in melee. They are only there to simulate a melee game in UMS.
The only way to make a map unable to start in Melee (or any game type) is by using the installation terrain OR have only 1 start location for players 1-8.
The latter also prevents you from playing the map in UMS, so it's pretty worthless.
You could place all start locations at illegal positions. People are able to start a game then, but it'll end in a draw right from the start.
Triggers have absolutely no influence on melee games.
