I'm not sure if you guys know this already, but here goes anyways. the other day i was making a map with a computer base, i set the base up as terran and set the map up, saved it and went to play it on single player. i typed in Black Sheep wall so i could make sure the Ai Scirpt i used for the terran player worked. the computer mined and sent units it had to attack me, but i noticed something, it didn't train up any reinforcements. that struck me as odd so i went in and changed it from meduim to hard, and then from hard to insane, still it didn't work. then i checked the player settings and it had the Terran Base set as a Zerg Player. i felt stupid for a mintue, but once i set it to terran the base sprang to life and trained and built up. so just remember kiddies, if you make a Terran Base, make sure the player is set to terran if it is a computer

Didn't train reinforcements? You mean it only worked for a short time before giving up, likely due to part of the Ai Code ordering it trying to make something, research something or such that wasn't there, and needed that part to continue.

NO Coko, he meant that the only men that it sent to attack him were ones he had preplaced for the player.

Correct. AI scripts will only run if the owner has the matching race for some silly reason.

could be a bug or something when they created the atrificial intelligence for starcraft

Tha reason would be because each species uses different strategies. It would be silly to tell the ocmp to use hydras when it is a terran player.

Sort of. You would think that if you tell the computer to use a Zerg AI script, it would just build hydra's and not think, oh, my settings were terran, so I dislike Zerg scripts. Anyhow, it simply doesn't work, so bad luck sad.gif

Actually, thinking of it this way, it likely requires it to have an existing starting structure like the Command Centre / Nexus / Hatchery, and since they will not have them it doesn't work the build scripts.

No. If you preplace them, or generate them with triggers, it still won't work. At least in the older patches. Maybe they changed something.

ok, when i first started, the race was set to Zerg, the preplaced Marines would attack, then another wave of the preplaced units would attack, and so on and so force until the enemy hero unit and the enemy workers were left. the workers would mine minerals, but not gas, when i set to Terran, they activtly build troop to attack with besides the preplaced ones, build more buildings, and upgraded the troops, i was playing it online just the other night, and the ghost units were locking down our mech units. i would also like to say that i have the latested version of starcraft, and i use X-tra Editor. and Coko, i had a command center for the terran army to begin with, however, all the SCVs did were mine minerals, even though i gave the Terran army 60,000 minerals and Gas to start with. they also repaired damaged structuers, and heres a little twist, most of the time, AI Medics would heal injured troops. but when set to Zerg, they just sat there. but when i set it to Terran, the base came to life, activily upgrading and training troops.

Just did another test. They just mined.

Basically, the AI won't train units/construct buildings/research upgrades for a race other than it's own race. Everything else in the AI script will work (like mine, attack, etc).
