Can you keep track of old scenarios in a new one. What im trying to say is like if you beat a level of a map and they use the launch new scenario instead of ending in defeat or victory is there anyway to make it so that you can keep information from the last scenario and put it in the new one...

example:

Army 1 kills 100 of army 2 forces at battle 1

is there anyway to make 100 less of army 2 forces in a new scenario with battle 2?

uhh, do you mean like kill scores in a war game, or something? this is what i think you are saying

Players: 1 and 2
-------------------
Conditions: Always
-------------------
Actions: Modify Countdown Timer: Set to however many you want seconds.
Show Leader Board for most kills of any unit.
Display label: 'Kills in battle'

Players: 1 and 2
-------------------
Conditions: Countdown timer is exactly 1 game seconds.
Current player commands the most any unit.
-------------------
Actions: Kill all any unit for Foes at location Battle 1
Display for current player:
You've won the battle! HUZZAH!
Set switch 1

Players: 1 and 2
-------------------
Conditions: Switch 1 is Set
-------------------
Actions: Create 100 units for Player 1 at location Battle 2
Create 100 units for Player 2 at Battle 2

etc, etc, just change the names is that what you meant?

He meant like Battle 1.scx and Battle 2.scx, two seperate maps.

No, they can't read data from one another. The second map starts with like a brand-new scenario, it's not built upon the first one. E.g. the Brood War Terran Campaign's 4th map loaded two different maps, 5A and 5B, it did not create different units from recorded data of what happened in 4.

the Closest you can get to it is to make a seperate map and start form there like part 1 part 2... You could have a movie ending or something if its and rpg and in the next 1 you could play the same movie to refresh the players...

To stop people from playing the first game add a password into the map...

Example: Step on the Beacons In The Right ORder To Start the Map.

(you would tell the password the map before)

Gosh, would I have wanted to make that possible.
When i was making my Daggerfall map before I lost it i had to make 40 different maps to make the complete game. Of those 40 maps each map was repeated like 5 times but each different map needed to haev different triggers so it was going to be hard as hell since each scenario would be different.

The only way to do that would be to make 1 additioinal map for every possible circumstance and that ain't pretty.

Uhh? it doesn't matter why mention it?

I don't know about password to actually play the map but you could use passwords to remember the outcome. If the game is over and they have 40 men, make a password for that outcome and when they input it in second map it restores thier army. I thought about having passwords in a 'mmorpg' map where when you lvl etc you can get a new password and input it back in the next time you start the map up to restore your character so you can show off him off and keep gettin better. Pretty cool.

Except they might cheat and such and put in different amounts which may in the end create the highest levels.

Yeah, that is a problem. All you can do is make 5 different scenarios and have it so if they are within a range they will go to a certain map. Or make it so they must be a certain way to beat the first map.

Well, IF they cheat, I think that is thier loss... Kinda ruins the game experiance...
Why bother? As long as it is a good map the SERIOUS gamers will appreiciate it...

The Password stuff's great.

Easy, encrypt the password!

biggrin.gif Muhaha, this is worthy of the Concepts forum!

No, because say they play it once with someone, and that person gets a really good score and a password, and then hands it out, everyone has that, and say someone takes it to the final part, and gives that password out, then everyone can play at highest level straight away.

This idea kinds sucks, but perhaps you could have a test. Have a replica of some battle where you had to be very strategic. If the people lose for not using those strategies, they can't play the later versions. They have to play through to learn how those strategies and abilities operate. Perhaps differet kind of weapons or something. like the Impossible Scenarios maps concept as a test. Just an idea.

There should never be a project where it would take up more than one 256x256 map and still need to be continuous. No one on Battle.net cares that much about any map. 256x256 most of the time could be made into a map that takes dozens of hours. You don't need any bigger sizes. If you are trying to make anything bigger, you're wasting your time and your energy, and you won't finish it anyway.

Mmm... people would play your map if they had the highest level possible wink.gif
You don't need to care about the B.Net retards, the serious gamers and map makers will apperciate your password system nonetheless.
