Currently having a debate with the room mates.
Where is the internet stored?
Is it in one place per country or in small areas all around the world ?
its probally all over the world
Individual sites are stored on servers that could be anywhere on the world. You pay to use them. However, to access one of those servers you need an IP address. But that's complicated, so instead we use domain names (www.staredit.net) that link to an IP address. Those have to be updated by your internet provider every 24 hours I think, or at least that's how Bolt explained it to me. So if you just register a domain name, it won't work right away.
Please tell me its like in area 51 or something.
Ive got 50 bucks riding on this...
No. Each time you access the internet, it is accessing someone's computer.
You actually connect to their computer which their computer sends the data to you.
Cable is faster because it has bigger lines to large companies.
Large companies host websites so that you will get service faster.
It usually uses satalites (I guess) to transfer the data.

It's stored in a bigass server.
My dad told me that lol.
to sum up, the internet is not "stored" anywhere. You just connect to one other computer, different computers for each website.
It's like a giant ass network with no central computer. The data is stored on all the computers. Thats why you cant access a site if the web host server is down.
i thought ur supose to be gone sheemps?
