I cannot find it by looking back in this forum, but how do you lock maps or make them crash if ppls try to edit them.
Craig
Use proedit. It can be found in the download database. Personally i use guedit because it compresses my map.
You could either use ProEdit or GUEdit to lock them....just load a map on them and press protect....but i dont reccomend GUEdit because a program can unprotect maps that were protected with GUEdit.
Always save 2 copies of your map, ALWAYS. Just in case;)
GUEdit is easily unprotected. As are all the current map protections.
I'm currently working on a patching program that fixes the ProEdit v1.4.1 from being unprotected

Proedit cant be easily unprotected as GUEdit....I think it takes longer because you have to go through all the strings and delete this add that....Just use proedit...i dont think people here really want your map anyway...Since this is a map making site we will make our own...The only people that unprotect maps are unskilled little fags that cant get any thing done.
That was kinda harsh at the end

No actually someone just discovered something that unprotects ProEdit very very easily.
No I can't tell you how.
ProEdit is easier to unprotect than GuEdit if they can figure out how to do it...
I emailed Clokr_ about this and he says he is unwilling to touch ProEdit again.
Don't worry, it will be stopped ASAP.
Actually to unprotect 1.4.1 or above, you need to be very skilled in your knowledge, thats really the point. No matter what you do you can always open the maps in the end. I doubt your protection add-ons will work.
They also have a program out for GUEdit that you can just load the map and click unprotect but i have no idea what the program is...Not that i want it.
SCUnprotect is able to achieve this, though you've got to do some things before hand.

It's not exactly an add-on, it's another program that you run after protecting the map with ProEdit. This program will prevent the easy way that unprotects maps. The other way will stay remain almost impossible

You search BlizzardHackers then and viewed how he unprotects the maps? Its an interesting idea, long-winded and pointless unless you really need the map.
LoL just a question how did this topic go from how to lock maps to unprotecting maps?
It didn't i simply stated that Locking Maps is impossible, and that ways to unprotect all forms is known by those with talent for such activities. How do you think the things were made, by those who invented them trying to break in. Protection Level 4 can be beaten!

Actuallly InSaNeMaPpEr, you were the one that started the unrptection

Read your first post.
Kaboom that makes me sound like i unprotect maps...But i know what you mean...
I had no intention on making you look like you like to unprotect maps. Just saying that you started the thing about who started from protection to protecion. I don't think anyone else has the tought that you like to unprotect maps.

That was the part that made me sound like i unprotect maps.
ive unprotected maps but that does not make me a bad person. its not like i changed anything or gave myself credit id just look at a trigger. now im smart enough to just post my problem here.
i thought 1.4.1 had protection level 6... GUEdit has the worst protection ever besides scmtoolkit.
Off Topic
BOOM Locked.
PS. you can download Proedit in the Downloads section of this page.
