Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Making text center automatically in Starcraft?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Adam Reineke on 2004-11-16 at 23:42:21
Okay.... I'm working on a defense map, and I want to center the text that tells when the level starts... For example:

Level 1: Zerglings

Now... I know it can be done with spaces, but that is not precise and gets messed up whenever you add text or do anything like that. I thought I heard once that there was a character you could type in that would center it automatically, much like the characters we use for colored text.

Now, I'm a big fan of tutorials telling me how to do it, but if it can be done with just a character, could somebody post a map showing it being done? I think it was done it Orbit Defense 1.0, but the map is protected so I can't look at it.

EDIT:

And I know that there are other threads out there about this topic, but they don't make sense to me... So, helpsmilie.gif

Just place the 'back tag' before the text u want to centre.
The back tag are like colour tags but it centres the text instead of making them colourful.

I don't think you need a map, the 'character' is the 'back tag' i mentioned and it comes with SCXE, Starforge and I think also scmdraft.

Hm.... maybe that's why I didn't understand.... SF 2.2 calls it Overlap Back, so I figured it was used for overlapping text. It did work... so I'm happy now.. smile.gif

So, for future reference (even though its mentioned elsewhere), the character used to center text is "".

EDIT:

Sorry Battlekruser. I tried searching, but I couldn't find anything that made sense to me...

No, it isn't. THat is a placeholder for a nonexistent character in most fonts (such as this).

Well that character centered my text.... :S

ADDITION: I tried it and it worked perfectly.... wink.gif

Yes it works, but what DT is saying is that when you paist it here it ruins it. Since the browsers font can't display the character it replaces it with another. If you copy from it you will simply have that replacement character.

If you want to 'give' the character to another person he needs to copy it directly from a map, the editor, or from a notepad file (i'm sure there are other ways).

Anyways since you figured it out and we just had another thread on this same topic I'm going to lock this.
