I can't do the triggers right for somereason on star forge so maybe if u have some other way that would be nice too
Use SC X-tra editor for the triggers if you don't understand them in SF.
SF has a system in which you have to write the whole trigger, and anvanced users use it to make triggers faster and use copy paster easier.
If you can't handle SF triggers right now I suggest you keep going with SC-Xtra and open a map in SF and study how the triggers are written.
BTW: Don't use the original editor, there are othere which are exactly the same but with more features lice SCXE.
X-tra editor is for mainly trigger usage...and starforge is mainly both...i myself am preety good using starforge triggers....But if you dont know how to use starforge triggers then just use x-tra
Although Original is ok, its outdated.
Original doesnt have most of the AI scripts that scxe and sf has.
Try a map editor that is easy and good to use. Try X-tra because its easy to use with triggers and moving with the keyboard arrows feels like your in heaven and theres undo buttons and 5 diffrerent modes! But no squared terrain like Starforge or sprites or no protecting maps its not advance but its easy to use.....
There is one thing i hate about Starforge...well 2...You cant go back if you make a mistake...you have to go over it with the original tile...and you can use the arrow keys to look around...you either have to click the mini map at the top left or scroll up/down/left/right wit the scroll bar.
well actually if you have ever used the 2.2 there is an undo button and it sais that on the latest new page. you can use the scrolls but its just more complicated
Ok...but where do you get Starforge 2.2?
OMG!! sorry i just got annoyed seeing as it is on the main page of the site in big bold letters but under latest new there is a link to download 2.2 or you could look in the dldb
its uber cool
HAHA...omfg i cant believe i missed that...rofl

opsy i sure hope ur using starforge for square terrain / custom palettes, because isom terrain on sf is an absolute wast of time. its hurrendous. i would use scm draft for terrain or maybe xtra, and starforge for triggers. sf is faster for triggers once you learn how to use them. try creating a simple trigger in xtra, saving the map, then looking at in sf forge, to see how the criteria in the same trigger looks in the different editors. thats how i learned. once you understand them, sf is the best for triggers. but for the time being, just use x-tra
myself i use SCMDraft 2(map revealers), starforge(terrain/player colors) and Xtra(everything else) it worked fine til 1 day, when it all got messed up, so when i try saving my map(in Xtra, becus i were making triggers) it says it couldent open it to write... but it still saved it...
dont use all these 3 editors, or they'll kill each others...

thats what i think...
u could use starforge and Xtra... thats what i think works the best
i do the same thing kpl_yo does (forge=terrain/colors scmdraftII=map revealers [or terrain or colors] scxe=everything else). forge has a unique way of editing triggers, but it just takes some fiddling and experimentation to get used to. if you dont wanna devote the time, stick to scxe. i love my scxe

I make the map on Starforge because it is just AWESOME! but unfortunately, i cannot do the triggers there, so i do all my triggers in SC X-Tra editor! if you have any problem transfering triggers back and forth, contact me, i may be able to help.
I dunno, i think the original would work just fine because then you can use the different defence mechinisims (ie sunken colony) and tha is a trigger on teh original editor. Also u dont have all the different extra stuff in your way.
... =ignores dri= it depends on preference,
Some people like XTRA, ... and obviously some people like Orignal... and most semi-experianced mappers like SF..
basicly, SCMdraft2 is the best or terrain, StarForge is the best for unit placing, and Xtra is the best for triggering.
There is no "best" editor, yet, so just use each of them for the thing you need.
Choosing an editor to use is not a matter of what you like, it's what you need, simple as that.
Arrow keys in StarForge are used to move selected units or sprites by one pixel at a time. If you want to scroll, you can use the numpad 8, 4, 6, 2 (make sure numlock is on).

Make sure u have ); at the end of ur triggers or they wont save into the map.
Starforge all the way

It takes too long to SCXE but hell maybe you'll get a buff index finger if you do it on that.
