i'm quite familiar with glowing wireframes, and i know how to make it. i've figgured out ways to get brown/orange wireframes, blue wireframes, blue w/ missing segments, and glowing grey/orange. However, i cant find a combination where it ends up plain black, as i've seen in a number of maps, such as I S D. In I S D v1, the infested kerrigan is glowing black, unlike the orange of blue wireframes i've been able to get. i will keep working on it, but i was just wondering if anyone knew of the solution.
I came across an unprotected version of I S D v1 on b.net, but whoever cracked it did some work in xtra or the like, because kerrigan has only 1 hit point, as do other units that had glowing wireframes. the first box is empty. this leads me to believe that the glowing wireframe (black) had a 2nd box filled with a 1. anyone have any ideas?
Well Zerg 2/1 and 3/1 have good glowing black and my 300/42 pylons are plain black. See my attatched map (and don't steal it)
I want to know how to hex edit the UNIS section of the CHK, to get the glowing wireframes.
So far, all I've been able to do is X+1/X HP, any help would be greatly appreciated.
You don't hex anything, use sprite-units. Their HP will always be <original hp (SC default)>/<custom hp set for that unit>

nuclearrabbit--cant help you there. x+1/x hp works, but doesnt give 'glowing' wireframes, but only differently colored ones.
try using x/x - 1/1 is good for black on zerg units.. as is 1/2. sometimes x/x+1 works too, as can be seen in DT_battlekruser's map.
do the wireframe glow change in different tilesets? in the artic tileset, the 1/1 ratio on the zerg units caused them to glow a nice healthy black, but on the ash world, it glowed a wierd orange/grey. do they change?
thanks DT_battlekruser. you helped me out a lot.
Err yeah, forgot to mention, they do change by tileset. You'll have to experiment a good bit.
The thing is, I'm on a mac, so I have to hex edit to do any 'fancy' junk on my maps.
I'm editing the unit settings (HP settings) and I wanna know, or see, how SF does krazi HP like 956/7, or something.
DOn't know how to hex it, but you have to place the sprite unit. See my post 4 posts up.
I'm not too familiar with sprites... What are 'sprite units'?-Disabled sprites?
It is a sprite with "draw as sprite" unchecked. Sprite-units are like normal units except some crash and they always have the aforemention HP differentials.
Bleh, I really need to learn the sprite properties bits.
Or perhaps you should save up some money and buy a PC. Games for mac are always harder to find...
That, or build my own editor!
Bwaahahha! I will rule the (mac) universe!
Lol build an editor with like all the good stuff

Square tile, normal tile, p9-12 triggers, sprite layers, invalid doodad placement, as good mini-map image as in SCXE, the works, now that would make you the Mac or MAC's!

Wait a minute, I thought sprite units were units that do look and act almost like a real unit, but don't attack/defend themselves (or are be able to be attacked) and most of the time disapper when a real unit walks over the sprite.
P9-11 (I don't know about 12) do nothing.
pure sprites can't do anything, althoug some disappear. unit-sprites if disabled won't defend or attack, but they can be attacked.

So, would the overmind in Mini_moose's uberena map be a sprite?

We don't fully understand unit-sprites. However unit-sprites can research upgrades and give power. I once had my game crash when a tank attack a unit-sprite Pylon.
I didn't know they upgraded and gave power.

I assume that's if you have all teh boxes unchecked though.
Um sorta off topic but how do you make glowing wireframes? Made post after reading first two.
You need SF.
Go to unit properties and there will be 2 health boxes, put numbers in both health boxes.
You can have HP like 3/2 which will make glowing wireframes.
I always try as many different numbers until I get the effect I want.
You have to mess with odd hps where with x/y , x is greater than y. Happy experimenting!
phlem-- its simple, but u need to use starforge. xtra/scm draft wont work.
if u dl starforge, go into the unit settings, the place where u edit name, attack, armor, hp, shields, ect.
then theres 2 boxes: one small, and one large, both in the hp area. fill the first with one number, like 2, and the second with another, like 1. it caues wierd things to happen with wireframes. adds a nice affect to some maps
simple, but it took me a while to figgure it out. hope this helps

roofle 3 at at a time. Also in Starforge, go to Sprite Layer and select "unit mode". THe placed sprite-units will have HP = to <default hp for unit>/<max custom hp for unit>
so a sprite-unit scv when custom SCV hp is set to 5 would have 60/5 hp.
Thanks guys. Can you use sprite unit things like real units?
