I think the reason was because I had the forums set to 20 posts per page. I put it to 10 (still modifyable in profile) so the forums should be faster now.

Notice: If you're extreme at forum loading speed, you can go into My Controls > Board Settings > and change "Number of posts to show for each topic page" to 5. That means it will show 5 posts per topic page for only YOU. This is useful if you only like seeing the last page of a post any nothing else

Gifs are compressed and 256 colors. They have extremely little effect on forum funtions, as long as they remain small.
I'm sorry spaceboy, you can export it as a gif, because gifs are a group of images. SWF is flash and flash player is slower on low end machines. It was contributing to the lag on the forums, sorry.
