Is it possible to make a "No Entry" area with a Location? As in lets say I have two lands, one next to each other, and they connect, but one controls Easy Enemies, and the other contains Super Ultra Hard Enemies. I dont want them merging, now do I? I know you can do it by when they enter the area, moving them, but I want it so that they dont even go NEAR the Location, so its not messed up as if the units were warping. Is this possible? How?

Just use the order command instead of moving them. Then they will go back to their original area.

You can create to more locations on either side of the location in the middle and say if unit is brought here then issue order to another location.

Im pritty sure I clearly stated that I DONT want that. That is annoying and will take multiple triggers for EVERY unit that is possible to enter the area. Also, I want it so that they dont just magically warp to no where, and I was hoping there was a way just to make them never go to the location in the first place.

ADDITION: I could possibly make two locations one for each side, but by the time I am done making locations, ill have more than 10 million! Im already at like what...100? Let me check....yeah like 90 somethin.

what? issue order trigger makes them walk, not move like teleport..and you would only need 1 trigger. Player brings men to location issue order to location. What are you talking about 10 million locations? you need like 4?

Make a location bigger than the one you don't want untis to go to.
Then make a trigger making every unit from Player X so that if they enter tha bigger location which covers all sides of the location you don't want them to go, you issue them to return tot heir respective bases or something.

It only takes one extra trigger and one extra location not that much of a hassle.

No, make a location along the border of each. If they go to the border, order them to middle. Have a whitespace between borders.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Coop on 2004-11-18 at 20:38:10
Beer Keg it would actually be easier to just use 2 locations cause then you wouldnt have to specify where each unit goes.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2004-11-18 at 21:06:04
Not really since he only has 2 types of units and he doesn't want them merging, that means they are already separated and they can each come from one way so you can make the trigger send the units the other way since you already know where they come from.

Pfft. Are you ignorant?

Make the location BIGGER, so than it will order the units to move back earlier... but you don't understand how you can use unit orders, so I'll leave you with your dreamy way of "doing it a different way other than any possible solution". If you want to make it impossible, go ahead. BTW it only takes one trigger for all of this, maybe a couple if you want them to move somewhere different each time.

THey arent ON A LOCATION to BEGIN with! They are just randomly walking since they were made, theres no Location that they are on! HENCE THE PROBLEM. But, I solved it when I made what I said Id do in my Addition, nevertheless, It will take 2 Locations for Each area, making alot of locations... *sigh* I hope theres no limit on locations.

there is its 255 i think. but your not even close to the max with your like 100 locations? but it depends how many areas you have if youll max the location limit...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2004-11-18 at 21:58:14
There's a limit of 255 locations.

You never clearly stated your problem anyway because this is what I thought you meant:

............|__________|...........
AREA1..............................AREA2
............___________...............

The middle is where the location would be to keep units from area 2 out of area 1 and area 1 out of area 2.

That's basically how it's assumed.

I think he wants to make a melee type map or an rpg where in one section of the map the units are more difficult than in another.

Are your units on Junkyard dog?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Coop on 2004-11-18 at 22:05:13
Yeah thats how i pictured it. When he said easy enemies and hard enemies i thought there was more than one easy enemy unit and more than one hard enemy unit thats why i said he would've needed 2 locations.

This is what happened in this thread:

Is it possible to seperate units without using the move trigger?

Yea, it's called the ORDER trigger

I'M PRETTY SURE THAT I DID NOT WANT THAT.

You said they are already separated. Then just use the patrol order inside a set location.

Make them patrol from Location A to Location A. The units will always be patroling inside that location.

GOD. Do this.

Trigger
Players:
¤ The Enemy
Conditions:
¤ Current Player Brings 1 Men to Border1
Actions:
¤ Order All Men at border 1 move to area 1

Trigger
Players:
¤ The Enemy
Conditions:
¤ Current Player Brings 1 Men to Border2
Actions:
¤ Order All Men at border 1 move to area2

How does this use up too many locations???

I just started on the map, and Im at like 92! I bet Ill reach the limit before Im finished.

Then save locations by using 'Move Location'
Center it on a burrowed unit or something closedeyes.gif

Try ways to save locations, just like how Bolt made a bound with 1 location.

That's quite impossible to use 92 locations... where are they placed?

deathknight he means that hes used 92 locations in total not on that trigger
