am I missing something here?

Cuz i think you can do everything you do in SCM draft as you do in SF 2.1 and SF2.2

Maybe i am dumber than usual but can anyone tell me?

lol... it has all of the capiblities xtra has and some that starforge has. I recommend people that know everything about xtra to begin to use scmdraft, and then starforge. Using scmdraft, you could disable 2 high templars being able to warp into a archon, while starforge, I believe, doesn't have this capability.

Well to me it seems that there is a lot more to it then just that becase the way a lot of the advanced mappers talk about it like it is the greaest thing around other than SF (both versions) i like a lot of the sprites cua they can add some detail but i just dont understand all of the good praises it gets maybe you can give me more input on why it is considered to be a good map editor! confused.gif

no, I can't really answer you any better. I think you should try it out for a while and then compare it to starforge and xtra and see what you think.

By the way, doesn't this belong in the map assitance forum?

SCMDraft is still in it's Beta versions and you shouldn't expect it to have everything SF has yet.

SCMDraft is the best Terrain editor out there. It can do both Diamond and Square terrain correctly.

Well, if you see no use for it, don't use it. What can we tell you? Its still incomplete.

I understand thanks for the input i see why people like to use for terrain it makes editing the terrain way easier

It can do isometric terrain correctly, but I doubt anybody would want to use it for square terrain or extended terrain...

Starforge is probably the best if you want to use almost 100% of Starcraft's max in map making.

SCMDraft 2 is amazingly wonderful for most things, though there are a few things where StarForge surpasses it:

- Setting values for numbers, such as unit health and especially time
- Maximum terrain editing capabilities, only StarForge can make Palettes

That's about it. SCMDraft 2 has no triggers yet either, though StarForge's trigger editing is SLOWER than SCXE, I don't care what anyone says, it is. A real nice trigger editor would be full text, no mouse actions, like a real programming language. And there is in fact such a trigger editor being produced for SCMDraft 2.

-'extended' units
-easier to-use interface
-many other things like SHP, etc.

For you, it is. That's an opinion, not a fact.

SCMD2's grid options, terrain size options, as well as many other options, are limited. It may have SOME things better than Starforge, but the only thing I give it credit for is that there aren't many bugs.

SCM2 has a really slow scrolling tile bar for terrain.

I suggest going with starforge. IMO starforge triggers are faster because they are text and have autocomplete.
