Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> burrowed units invincible
Report, edit, etc...Posted by getaids on 2004-11-21 at 14:03:59
Is it even possible to make burrowed units invincible? Thanks for any help that can be given.

Uh burrowed units function just like normal units. Burrowing/unburrowing has no effect on their invincibility. Also you can use enable/disable invincibility on burrowed units.

I mean when they burrow, to set their invincibility status to enabled, and when they unburrow, set it to disabled.

i'm not sure thats possible, unless theres a way to get a location to be located in the 'underground' / burrow area, as apposed to high ground, low ground, high air, low air. i dont think its possible, unless sum1 can prove me wrong. like DT said, burrowing and un-burrowing has no affect on their invincibility, so i dont think you can change it.

Are you making a map where burrowing is like a "safe" mode where you don't want your unit to be attacked?

If so then all you need is normal burrowing and have no detectors around. That way the enemy wont be able to attack your burrowed unit because they can't see it.

That's what I had before but I thought it would be cool if they were invincible if burrowed =\

Use the burrow to transform map in the assitance forum (search). It has triggers to tell if a unit is burrowed so you can activate the invicibility of the unit.

If you have mass zerglings then it is better to just create one huge location except find the layer that is underground and uncheck every layer except that one.

Gradius, That sounds like it would take forever to do.

No, it won't be doable because there is no such thing as an underground location. And if there was it won't take too long because there is only about 5 boxes to uncheck. IF there was an underground location...

There IS and underground location. And it would not take forever to do because you make the location as big as the map.

There is an underground location? Is it one of those weird "Unknowns" from StarForge or am I missing something?

I myself have never seen the "Under ground location"

He's lying, there is none. happy.gif

If there was, Deathknight would have already made a post about it and crap. :/

Use the map Legacy posted or this one, this one works better though in my experience.

Forget who made it though... sorry.

Just use that concept of moving osmething on it and moving it back. if it goes on it, it is burrowed and you can invincible it. if something else walks on it though, it thinks it's unburrowed.

You can dodge that, but its hard to do and I don't want to post it now because its late. I also don't know if you need tit to be hardened against units walking on it or not.

I dont see the point of that map.

We are just arguing about the "underground location" even though there is none.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by XxXFaNtA on 2004-11-22 at 09:28:41
There is definitly NO "underground Location"....
but you can find out if a Unit is burrowed or not....

Okay, I'am going to take the liberty and take a screen shot of the starforge thingy to prove there is no underground location...So after this post there will be no more posts GOT IT? mad.gif

I hope the lower ground isnt the "under ground location"

It's not... that was the first thing I tried. It just means low terrain.

If you intend on doing this for many units, i suggest you give up now. even if you can accomplish it, you would find it bugged and it would lag the hell out of the game.

If your only doing it for one unit try the sample maps people have attached.

PS. Don't argure about the underground location just say, "if it really exist prove it."
Then you can ither point out some error in his logic or he will run off with his tail between his legs.

Hey what about making an huge location called 'huge' and then do this steps :
- Always, preserve trigger : Set invincibilty to all units at anywhere
- Always, preserve trigger : Disablet invincibilty to all units at 'huge'

don't tested this, i hope "Anywhere" will afect underground units ?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by XxXFaNtA on 2004-11-22 at 14:29:51
omg blink.gif

It wouldn't affect only burrowed Units, it would affect every Unit.... blink.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Robi on 2004-11-22 at 14:32:05
??? no because their disabled : - Always, preserve trigger : Disablet invincibilty to all units at 'huge'
and location huge dont affect burrowed, so burrowed stays invincibles , and others, normal

no ??
