Near the fall of the western half of the Roman Empire (the other side of the Byzantine) German Barbarians migrated. The Romans welcomed them and set them up as a "buffer" zone. Among the were the Franks (France) Anglos and Saxons (angloland=> england) the Gothics, and some others. While they were in the Roman empire each of their languages (respectively) morphed with the latin that was already there, creating what is now known as the romance languages.

Or did I get that wrong? mellow.gif

You got most of them right FK.

The saxons were originally from germany in thr rhine area, they later migrated to england in about 800 AD.
Spanish is mostly Latin and Arabic not from the people who where living there.
Latins in Spain (~300BC - ~400AD)
Arabs(Mores) (~800AD - 1492 AD)
