Staredit Network -> Ideas -> ComputerAI or Human Attacker for Defense Map
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LegitXeris on 2004-11-27 at 14:49:44
Hey guys,

I'm starting a new map Xeris Castle Defense or something like that. anyways, I canot decide which is better, using computers to attack castle, or human players. Here is what i think about hte pros and cons for both. Any suggestions and ideas are appreciated.

If I choose Computer AI then;

Pros w00t.gif

1) Does not require Human Player, if any Human shall leave during the game, other players may continue (I would make it so that if a player leaves, all his/her units will be given to allies)

2) Can always rely on computer not to be AFK

3) i can control exactly what the computer does tongue.gif

4) sometimes a Computer can attack better than human players (Newbies)

5) can always ban a player to get his units ( Need 3 Players to Ban)

6) Only requires 1 player, and up to 7 players (Defenders)

Cons crazy.gif

1) Computer Computer can be stupid and be easily distracteed by a player's MICRO. ranting.gif

2) Game only has 4 variations (Computer's strength would depend on easy, medium, hard, experts. Can choose at beginning of game) confused.gif

3) No Human Attackers

4) what else?

I say Computer attacking Castle. I think it would be pretty boring for the Human player after awhile unless you did some major balancing for every unit you plan to use. Most of these types of maps, the team against the attacker always has more powerful units and its never fun for the attackers.

Plus, Human Players may have to leave thus throwing the game off balance and making the defenders have to remake and start over.

I say go for Computer.
As for easy, medium, ahrd computers just have the player choose in the begining and then have the triggers run on a switch depending on what was choosen in the begining.

You can also create "secret suprise" attacks with comp with lings unborowing right in the middle of the base or having an attack come in from a different side.

You have a control of computer which is good since you can do crazy stuff.

I would normally vote that computer attacks castle, but seeing how many versions there are of computers attacking "fortresses" and so on, humans attacking a castle would be "unique."

If you use Random Triggers then Computers can also be unique.
