Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-11-28 at 01:32:41
I am not exactly new to SC map editor but i have never really looked into this sort of thing that deeply. if you don't know what i mean i will explain.

Usually a map (terrain layer) has a grid that is on an angle. i want to know how to make it become straight up and down.

thanks lots if you can help me.

What is this grid you speak of? You mean the placement terrain brush? You can easily place square pieces with SF 2.2

He is refering to making sqaure terrain. He just doesn't know what it is normally called.

AliansExist, you need to use a special editor such as Starforge or SCMDraft to create terrain you want. You can find both of those programs in our download database.

Just in case you can't find it, here it is: Starforge 2.2
SCM draft 2 (beta)
With Starforge, you need to click on "isom" button if it doesn't say "Rect". With Starforge, you can make your own custom brushes and place almost any kind of terrain. (Plz correct me if I am wrong on that last one.) to see how to mess around with that feature, you should see How to make 3D buildings. Also, I HIGHLY recommend making a copy of your map before you use Starforge.
With SCM draft, click on the "isometrical" drop down box, then click on "square" or "rectangle" or "tileset index".
EDIT: For grammer.
EDIT/ADDITION: (Correct me if I am wrong on this one plz) Hex editing is where you modify a computer file.

Hex editing is editting the computer's file in hexidecimal mode because all computer files run on binary (using electricity, one or off, 1 or 0) and converting Hexidecimal to binary is easier than a base of 10 to binary.

THanks i got the Star Forge file and have looked at it, but in a way it is quite differant frome the original editor, more complicated, and you can do almost anything.

i geus i'll just need to sit down and try things out for a while. or are those tutorials for this program?. thanks heeps.
