Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2004-11-28 at 18:46:45
Just to let you guys know the Zelda project is being put on hold (again). I just played Call of Duty United Offensive... now I have to make a Russian Campaign! Map 1 - The Battle of Kursk. I will also make maps for (at least but not limited to) Stalingrad and Kharkov. These are going to be based off of the Call of Duty maps. Now it's time to actually join the Wehrmacht and fight the evil allies in the best WWII shooter ever made.

*Edit* Here is some music to wet your lips on! This could and probably will be featured in the game.

*Edit* So much for playing Call of Duty. I figured instead I would spend a few minutes delighting your appetites for this project.

Story - World War 2, duh -- how cool!
Cinematics - Pre- in- and post-game cinematics.
All Map Sizes - 256x256 (size does matter)

Weapons
-MP-40 submachine gun

Vehicles
-Jeep with mounted .50 caliber machine gun
-T-34 Russian Tank

-King Tiger Mark V Tank

Warplanes
-P-51 Mustang (maybe in battle of Berlin smile.gif )
-Spitfire (I'll look up model)
-B-17 Flying Fortress
-M-109 Messermicht?

I'm working on the Battle of Kursk right now and the terrain is gorgeous. I'll keep up with you later. Time to play the game I LOVE!

*Edit* Taking music off. Want it? IM @ NumenorLord.

Wait... if I can remember correctly... *WoA-Felagund thinks hard... it sucked ass... and like one person played it. Yes, that's it! I can't have you $hitting away another map like this. I'm actually going to make a decent map. So you got a problem with that? Go lie down and cry yourself to sleep. And you can hardly say I'm stealing any idea, as that would just be slightly hypocritical. My map will be an "artistic endeavor" into the grittiness of the front lines of the Eastern Front during World War II.

Also, I thought I'd like to leave you with one of the ingame cinematics. It involves planes (most likely Scouts) coming in, doing a quick strafing run, then bombs ahoy! and flying away. Expect other details such as flak and perhaps a smoke effect. And as always, I don't really care how large the maps are (hopefully under 10 mb each). Dialers, all I can say is - sucks to be you. I plan on using this site as a resource, which is what I view it as. And before you jaded map makers go out and call me a bit egotistical, this map is designed around the massive culmination of effort, meaning many nuances and specifics (making the little things count), not one or two "uber-options". I'll see if I can pick up some Call of Duty music. Want a cinematic experience?

Time to stop the arguing, even if he was fully serious he also copped the idea from the game. So whats new. I will fully admit I copped the idea of Merchants 2 and 3 from the original Merchants 1 maps.

Got tired of seeing them all rigged or way to easy so I advanced the difficulty of the map for skilled players who became jaded by how easy the map was to beat. As I grew in skill I made the series better, and for those who havn't tried my maps of Merchants 2 and 3 they are hosted on this site in the downloads section.

I think the maps I made are very good despite having originally take the idea from someone else who left off with little initiative to continue on with the series letting it become victem to rigged copies and editied versions.

Taking someone elses idea and making it your own is not a bad concept as long as your not stealing their work entirely. I use the concept of Merchants 1 in my other two maps yet I add depth and change the concept enough to make it my own. So even if someone made a merchants map baised off one of mine as long as they added something to their own map thier own perspective I don't think I would mind. I might even be flattered that someone thinks enough of my maps to add to the Merchant series because of my own additions to it.

So why is there an argument here? From what I see this is his own original work, not stealing your map. He is baised off the game not just your map. And offering another option to play the same genere of a game just by another person.

I see no point in this argument.

Update

You'll be able to use Flak-88's and just simple Quad-Flak Cannons (anti-aircraft).

This will be done using P12 sieged siege tank and 4 P12 missile turrets. Expect a preview sometime in the next week or so!

Hey, sorry that I must do this again, but everything is being put on hold.

I have a science fair project, living history project, a short story, and a book to work on. I'll try my best to get that preview to you. Don't know how pretty it will be. Probably a lot of grandeur without substance, but that's what you guys like anyway! Au revoir!

[OFF TOPIC]
damn ever since coko became mod, hes done nothing but close threads, hijack posts, etc. we're had better days. YOSHI WHERE ARE YOU! just my opinion coko.

[ON TOPIC]
great map, if only we had the wc3 terrain/units engine this call of duty map would own... having 3-d units paradropping in smile.gif

[CK Edit; i post within others so as not to really affect the movement of the topic and therefore create what i hope to stop. I don't close threads without reason, and these are obvious reasons, in that people will spam topics for no reason. And we didn't have better days, there were just less people, and your not that old in this community.]

ADDITION: ive been here at least 6 months.... nearing 7, and yes we did hjave better days.. not becuz of less ppl, bcuz we didnt have topics we wanted to post in being closed b4 we got there and we no longer have the privacy of our own post, bcuz we have you right there posting in our posts... gets REALLY annoying. (i joined june 04: so you have june, july, august, september, october, november, and now december.)

If people have ideas they can make "test" maps and attach them to their post in this thread. I'll look at them and decide if I want to use them. It's easier than you trying to tell me what you want.

Alright, I think the preview might actually be done soon! Besides that, I've figured out how to do buildings. It will be building terrain, with enough passable space in the middle for a bunker and a few people. The people will load up, the bunker will move, and the people will still be able to fire from that location!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by .Coko[CK] on 2004-12-11 at 10:04:25
That seems fair enough system to work on, its really annoys me on maps where they say you can build these buildings but no space to!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheOddAngel on 2004-12-11 at 10:18:25
What are the invisible bunkers going to be for... Im confused...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by .Coko[CK] on 2004-12-11 at 11:43:33
Likely for hiding spots, and such, or defence?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2004-12-11 at 12:08:37
They will be placed in "buildings," or rather terrain that looks like a building. I'm guessing that they will be rooms that you can enter, and there are two ways to clear out the rooms. 1) The Hard Way - bring men to the doorway and they will transport to the room, where a battle will unfold. 2) The Easy Way - Lob a grenade into the room via the dropship menu. The transporting effect of the bunker is to take away the ugly starcraft building and allow the beautiful terrain to remain unraped by the unit's presence, while still allowing the units to fire from the location. I might also do some work with a sniper rifle option... where you can take out people from afar. I'm thinking each team would only get 1 sniper rifle (each player that is, for a maximum of 4/allies and 4/axis). This has evolved from a single player experience into an 8-player multiplayer team deathmatch. It is now simply Call of Duty - Team StarCraft : )

To conserve how much flipping about you people have to do with my two projects, I have decided to close this thread. All reporting and posts on both Call of Duty and Legend of Zelda projects will be directed here -Legend of Zelda: Birth of Hyrule Thread.
