Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> How many triggers, locs, strings, etc. can I use ?

How many triggers, locations, strings, letters, numbers, 'anything that you could think of' can be used in a map ? does it depends on what editer I use ?
I heard somewhere (a long, long time ago happy.gif) that there is a max, but I never reached it as far as I now... and maybe, very very very very maybe I could make an anti-"hex-editer" protecter, or whatever you guys call those cracks (it aren't HACKS !!!!! hacks are programs/ways to enter something but don't damage, steal, corrupt, change, etc. anything... cracks are evil programs, virusses, worms, etc. which DO corrupt, steal, damage, change, etc. things)
which hack (yes, HACK) intro a map and crack (...) it so they can scan/search/autochange the name of the creater and change it to there name.... those guys who do that are SOOOOO crying miserable freaking f*cked up censored.gif censored.gif censored.gif ranting.gif !!!!

so if someone could help me smile.gif


ps: and YES, I KNOW I CAN ONLY USE 256 TRIGGERS..... happy.gif

You cannot make an "anti" hex editor because hex code is the basic programming language that the computer runs on. I could explain this to you if you have patience to read what I have to say because I'm too lazy right now to do so tongue.gif

Well exactly it could be done, dunno how it will work exactly coz it's not my idea but of my friend. But as far as I understand it it was his idea to make a protecter program which kinda muzzels with the words/strings which are entered by the creater of the map (so it should not change the rest....) and encrypt it on a way the hex-editers will miss it but the editer will read it proberbly. Don't ask any details coz I don't know them happy.gif. But if a hex-editer will notice he can't find the words he will proberbly (if he is good enough afcourse happy.gif) go into it by himself and will still change them.... AND the maps are going to be HUUUGGGEEE if it is going to work at all sad.gif so I think he will drop it and just trust on the know ways to prevent it and on his own untested ways happy.gif

note: he doesn't like to be seen at the moment so don't ask who that guy is happy.gif

umm i think you can use more than 256 triggers...a lot more...

Since Moose made a really funny error and forgot to lokc this, let me add something to the list. What is the max amount a resource node (minerals or gas) can have. It is well known to be 50000 but I use SF to do 60000. Anyone know?

65536, or 256*256 is the maximum for that.

Wow, I can't believe this guy asked this question and then said "but I know" *incorrect information* is true.

There is no limit to triggers, or it might be 65536. Someone could try and get more to test this if they feel the need, but I never have, since it's at least 65536 if there is a limit, and that's far more than necessary.

I was multiplying triggers with the Save/Load.
It sorta got really laggy, and killed my computer.
I still never reached the trigger limit and my RAM was up in the 500's.
So before ever reaching the trigger limit, you will kill your computer first tongue.gif
