I like my Lotr kills Harry Potter rpg. It's just not your typical LotR game. You can pick 5 different LotR heroes and just go and Kill Harry Potter and the entire HogWarts. Some say that rpg sucks, but i guess it's just their opinion then.
If you are curious waht its like, go here

Best lotr map is Last Alliance. Other awesome ones are Darkening of Valinor, Darkening of the Treas, Year of the Trees, Elessar, and Celebrimbor. Well those are my favorites at least.

anarion =D. He was my fav alliance player. I liked Harad if i'm evil.
i like Zergling[SK]'s LOTR's Helms Deep map, it's fun, and since zergling is my friend, i can give him crap about it, lol, j/k zergling
i do not really understand any of the lord of the rings games for starcraft, maybe because i have never read any of the books, maybe because i have never watched any of the movies, o well, i played last alliance, that was pretty fun of which i did not understand, but it was pretty fun

yes anarion owned XD i also loved being Mordor XD it was fun being sauron...
anarion? MORDOR?!?!? SAURON!?!?!?!?!? you have NO idea how confuzzled i am (confuzzled = confused + puzzled) man i should go and friggin rent the movies or something, then i could understand what all this crap means

ugh *runs off to video store* (they don't have it) *runs to blockbuster*

I want to dedicate a day to watching all three movies (extended versions). Together I think it is about eleven hours. But ya playing the game after seeing the movie is kinda awesome. Being the people who kicked ass in the movie and playing those badass battles. But something is coming out for people who like that kind of stuff. LOTR Battle For Middle Earth rts. It's so FUGGIN AMAZING. I saw gameplay video and like your footmen guys like tremble in fear when a cave troll walks up n stuff. You can play all the awesome battles like Minas Tirith and Helmsdeep. It even multiplayer! It can be melee, which is freaking awesome, or you can co op versus a computer and do the significant battles. OR you can play as another human and play the big battles and see how you can make them turn out =D. I cant WAIT!!!!!!!!!
the best game is minas tirith. period!

I SHOULD DO THAT!!!
Edit: Maybe not the extended versions, how long would normal ones be (all 3 movies)
I think each movie is 3 hours each. The extended versions have roughly an extra hour each i think.
Time to set you idiots on the straight path --
Last Alliance is a fairly decent game that shaped that way current LotR maps are modeled. Middle Earth V. Pre LotR is about the same quality-wise, but I believe it is a bit older. Fairness wise, however, my map LotR ~ Chronicles is more balanced than any other. It just takes a long time to complete!
idiots...wow whats with that. Ya i failed to mention chronicles as one of my favorite lotr maps (its in my favorite folder =p). But I also left out some of my other favs like Yott, Dott, Dov. Hmm haven't played yours in a while...sounds like a good idea!
I don't really play LotR UMS. But, I tried a couple and thought they were ok. They just weren't interesting enough. They are prolly pretty cool tho. Out of the couple I have played, I have no idea since I can't even remember the names of them. But they were pretty kewl.

how can they NOT be intesting?! you get to kill majorly! the most intresting a map can get!
i think lotr maps suckass and are pointless

They are like the most non pointless maps on bnet. You get to play the heros and armies you read about and saw in movies. They also actually require strategy and thinking! Not just a stupid clickfest.

i agree with PearS
Though all lotr maps aren't even AVERAGE... I'm sure there will be average, or maybe better ones in time.
What do you mean by 'average'? There are only so many things that can go into a map like lotr. All you need are good terrain, good balancing, and a good feel. I mean, they can't get too complex =p. And you say that you think there will be better lotr maps in the future? I think that the BEST lotr maps are the oldest ones ever made.

Some lotr maps have the balancing, but none have the terrain or the feel.
I TOTALLY disagree with you. My favorite lotr map is Elessar and it reminds me of the lotr movies each time I play it...even though it came out before the movies. Also Lotr LA is awesome feeling because I get to play the battle that I saw happeneing at the start of the first Lotr movie. Since I haven't read the books it is perfect for me. And lotr terrain isn't too hard to get down. But ya, some people manage to butcher it pretty badly. One thing that you don't see much of in lotr maps is sprites. Maybe they should start to use them to make the awesome looking forests and what not that you see in the movies. The best lotr terrain I have ever seen was in some map I can't think of at the moment. But the awesome part in it was Isengard. It was a circle of raised dirt with sections of dirt in it here and there (like 4 total I believe). And in the little dirt craders where the orc spawning pools (zerg spawning pool) and all the necessary upgrade buildings. It gave it a feel of all that wooden crap that the orcs built under Isengard in the movie. And in the center of it was the Xel Naga temple which was the Pinnacle of Orthnac. I knew what it was as soon as I saw it and I was just like omfg thats so badass!
When i look on battle.net, some of the most common LotR games i've seen are Lotr: LA and Siege of Gondor. I dont get why so many people like Siege of GOndor. There's really nothing much to it. The terraining is horribly done and things just seem too tightly squeezed (like osgiliath and mordor). Last Alliance i would say is the best one as far as terraining and landscaping.
Edit: Well, maybe not the best one but at least it's better than SoG
