Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Does Lag affect Countdown Timer, Elasped Time?

Hey guys,

I have played a couple of games where I felt the lag has affected the countdown timer or elapsed time. Does anyone know how elapsed time work, does it still go off when a person lags? If i have a trigger that goes off in elapsed time of 10 seconds, but lag is so crazy that i can barely even move my unit, will trigger go off in 10 seconds or... will it depend on something else.

I'm trying to figure out which timing method I should use for spawning units to attack a castle. Right now I think switches is the best method

the "countdown timer runs at the same exact speed as the game speed, but the triggers do not" -- StarEdit.Net Helpful Hint, use countdown timers, at lest it is consistant...unless the game speed isn't

The elapsed timmer runs the same speed as the game, I'm pretty sure. So if it lags it should stop. Not 100% sure.

If the game lags, everything that Starcraft runs becomes "Paused".

Except sound, I think. I believe sound will continue, atleast the SC sounds. I would have to test imported .wavs to see if those continue too.

I don't think it's a problem if you just use Elapsed time. The countdown timer stops when it lags, this change is visible so it shouldn't be to hard to tell what you need to have it do.
