You can not change the icon without hacks. And even with hacks, you only turn it into ladder.

i thought it was just an addition to one of the map editors..

Wouldnt you have to patch the game? Because battle.net packets determine if the map is ladder or not.

I knew about that hack long ago.
I suggest don't use it since most of the times it would corrupt the file and make it not playable. It was used some time ago and you barely see it now because it corrupts/doesn't make the map playable with other people.
BTW: Why do you want to do something so useless?

SCM toolkit or use winmpq to extract the file from another map and put it in the map you want.

... Just don't do it. It takes the credit from it being made by you anyways, and if Blizzard finds it, or you play it with that and it's not authentic, you will be very screwed.

I once made a melee map and scmdraft 2 or starforge asked me if I wanted it authorized, so I said yes and then wen to play it. When I went to play it, there was a blizzard picture next the name in the same place it shows up on any maps Blizzard has made.

you see the symbol when you click on a game and are about to join. itll display fact like the map name, the host, and other things and itll show it in front of the map name.

Its best not to mess with maps that way, not only will ur cd key get banned, your name will be tainted and you will have a very bad reputation (especially on this site) anyway, take my advice, no hacks, no hexediting (stealing maps) and no messing with blizzard files.

It'd be neat to create your own icon for your maps 
anyways, if you extract the icon from (say...) un-edited The Lost Temple (in ladder folder) and place it in one of your maps...when you start the game, when the game start timer hits 0, the game will close saying it could not authenticate the map or something.

It's really easy to change the icon for the map, it's just an extra file inside the SCX. You can use WinMPQ to do this in a couple seconds by moving the ladder image from another map to your own. No reason to do it though.

You shouldn't do it anyway. Also you won't be able to do it unless you can figure it out for yourself. Get WinMPQ then try it.

Actually a certain map protecting/string editing/many other uses program (not GUEdit) has it. It ca nchange it to Ladder or Blizzard map. It's not a hack either. I have it but stopped using it due to its crappiness.
