Here is a very limited pre-review on my upcoming map.
It's going to be a new brand of RPG.
Here are some basic stats on my map.
It will be a Defense/Offense type of RPG
You also have to use Special Ops to infiltrate enemy positions
Players will be arrnaegd in teams, each team depends on the other team's success in order for the alliance to win althoghether.
This will be one of the first True Co-OP RPG's in a way because you need to rely heavily on your teamates in order to win. You don't rely on them inderectly by having them do things that you can't or killing enemies side by side. You need the other team to do his job in order to make yours possible(not easier).
This also will be a very small map possibly 96x96, which is quite small for an RPG, but with the sortyline elements I haev thought and vast number of different scenarios I can produce you will use the map many times over without getting bored.
Since all my mapmaking testing is halted for the moment I will make a trailer which needs no testing. Look for the Trailer in about a week or 2.
Actually a trailer needs to be tested just as much as any other map... if you do something wrong you will have no idea that you did it wrong, and you will have no idea if it works right or looks right. Trailers are in fact one of the MOST needy for testing since it's all about looks and you have no idea whether it looks right in SC.
wow that rpg sounds cool. so its basically like an army technique, if a team fails to do a task does the other team fail also or does that team just lose? well il be looking forward to your map beer

Yes it will be very much like whatthe army does in real life.
SaLa: I have done very nig parts of maps without testing and trailers don't require very much testing since I'll only be using basic triggers such as center location/view, order, sound loop and stuff like that.
I will then move the map to my other comp to test and see if it works, but what I meant was that I don't plan on testing it after every single trigger that I make.

Never has a map been made where it worked perfectly the first time you tested it. Something ALWAYS goes wrong.

Something always goes wrong and I know that SaLa. But I want to be the first to do it right on the first time, I know I'll have to go over the triggers many times and keep then as basic as posible.
Lisk: I know I didn't make a too big of a description, I only wrote the basic points in my map because I don't want to do like everyone else where they give away the whole ganeplay in a thread and then people find it boring.
I'll just release tiny bits of information over time and then shock everybody with the full release.
Beta testing will be limited to a few people only and I will only release a few screenshots, the beginig of the stroy will be released in the trailer, all the different scenarios won't be announced they just be surprised released, only some gameplay features will be releaed and part main storyline will be released only a few days before the actual release to tense things up.
Sounds very interesting. I have played maps a bit similar to this but yours just sounds better. I'm looking forward to watching the trailer; I hope you dont have problems with the triggers so you can release it soon. Good luck
