Simple question...
How do you do it?
Thanks!
I belive it is impossible, but I am not totally sure. I never see the need to rename them.
They help me remember what switch does what...
I'm doing a map that has 15 levels. Each level is initiated by switches which are "set" when the previous level is completed. I'm also using those switches to play sounds and display text for the Human controllers (Force 1).
Naming the switches helps me know what switch goes to what level and so on and so forth.
If anybody has an easier way to do all I just said above or can tell me how to rename switches without having to switch to X-tra to rename then back to Forge to do other things would help too!
Thanks again!
Use a death counter. Counter at 1 = level 1, counter at 2 = levels 2, etc etc etc.
A Death Counter? You mean like a unit shows up for each level in some unused terrain somewhere and that determines the level? Or what do you mean by death?
^ Oh wow, That totally makes sense. Never used death count that way before.
Hmm... I suppose that could be easier.
Piece of paper.
Switch 1 = Does this
Switch 2 = Does That
renaming switches in SF I don't know how to do, I usually know them by number. When I am using 50 switches+ I use pencil and paper.
You can rename switches in the String Editor but I don't think it appears in the string editor unless you have already renamed it once and created a string for it.
Legacy Weapon, Switches are easyer to use some times. Death Counts are not always better.
Yes I know, actually all my maps use switches instead of death counters unless there are more than 2 options/levels. I was just stating that because the person who posted above that post I made did not understand death counters.
Yeah, each round has 4 possibilities. I'm using Random switches. So I think the death counter would help in this situation.
Well, what I sometimes do is first open up SCXE, then rename all switches to like...1,2,3,4,5,6....etc. Then, in StarForge, I can just use the String Editor as Bolt mentioned to edit the string name.
