Well with your guys help i'm going to try to make a set of guidelines for moderators to follow as long and possably a revised rule list.
Of course it awaits Isolateds Approval before it would become offical, I'm just trying to brainstorm, go ahead and add too it or make suggestions.
Current Rules for Referance
Rule of Thumb: If you know its bad or stupid don't do it.
Site Rateing: These forums are rated the same as the game starcraft, which is TEEN (13+). We do not allow sexually suggestive material such has very scantily-clad girls etc. If you think your topic has objective material PUT A WARNING ON IT. This, however does not excuse posting innapropraite material like 18+ stuff.
If you are not older than 13 years old, then use these forums at your own risk! Some topics may have things and jokes that you may not want mommy and daddy to know about!
Notice these rules are only guidelines, Not the word of GODThis means that you should not stress yourself to follow the rules to the letter. Also if another member breaks a rule you should not take action against him or her. We don't want debates weathor or not a post adds any usefull information to the topic, if your concerned about it conctact a modderator about the situation and they will decide on a course of action.
What is Spam? (Posting Rules)- Your not allowed to post for the pure purpose of gaining minerals.
- Every Post must have a purpose and add something to the conversation. We do not want to see post that only say "thats funny", "I agree", " ", or things of that nature.
- Bumping post is not allowed Bumping a post is replying to a old post or replying for the soul reason to bring it to the top of the list.
- Your replies should be about the subject, don't go off topic. Many times however, it is ok if a topic drifts off topic. Just don't bring up random things and avoid discussing things compleatly off topic. If you have something offtopic to say such as commenting on a members avatar Private Message them, instead of making a post just for it.
Quoting Guildlines:- Quote something if your replying to a specific persons post (not directly above yours) and people might be confused about who you were talking to or what about.
- Do not quote an entire post directly above yours.
- If your quoting a long post or a post with several triggers, remove non important information from the post. If you don't expect people to complealy re-read the quote don't quote it all.
Flaming:- Flaming is not ok. Calling a person names or insulting them personally is not allowed
- Debating on the other hand is ok. If a debate is carried out maturely without personal attacks it is perfectly fine.
Advertising- Adverstising is only allowed in the Advertising Section of the website[/b]. This refers but is not limited to: advertising your webpage, a professional product such as a computer program or you mothers new bike, and your gameing clans.
- Advertising a Map you just created is allowed in the Map Showcase & Staredit section.
Topic Placement and Titles:- It is every members responcablity to put new topics in the correct sections.
- When creating topics be desribtive in the title. The topic title should describe what the thread is about.
- Do not continue a sentance started in the title. A person reading the first post in the topic should have a full understanding what it is about and not be lost if he/she doesn't know the topic of the thread.
More Stuff not allowed:- Requesting minerals or any other form of payment for exchange of help. This also applys to offering minerals for assistance
- Purposly avoiding the swearing filters. The word filters are there for a reason, don't try to bypass it
Shout Box:- No pure spam
- No Excessive swearing.
- No "dirty talk"
User Settings, Signature Avatars and so on.- Your avatar must be no bigger than 125 pixels by 125 pixels in size. Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 50 KB.
- Your ENTIRE signature must remain UNDER a width of 600 pixels and a height of 200 pixels. Images with external host must be under 100kb.
- Images or Signatures that are extreamly visually destracting such as rapid blinking are not allowed.
- Obsessive negative attitude towards a member or the site is not allowed. No Flaming
I dunno why you'd waste your time...
Most of it is practically common sense and you can't write a guide book for every situation. It'll probably just be best to handle things as they come up and if issues constantly pop up, reconsider their position.
Yeah, well i had nothing to do. And not to be stupid or anything but Who's common since? You know alot of people don't have any right?
And alot of it is ignorance, alot of members that sign up here may have never used a forum before.
Although I know from experiance not enforce the rules to much or make them overly specific.
I wrote up a list of rules for an old (U) forum once and there became too much debate about weathor or not they were following the rules when the individual circumstances didn't require moderation.
I just think we should have a list of guides but i don't want members jumping down eachothers throats about it. Do you think i'm approching this all wrong?
I added a few more things, Includeing the Do not Bump Threads rule. (1.3 although i havn't numbered them lol)
Here is an example of me breaking it.
PS. Next time i'll edit this i'll probly make it more of the 'moderator guide book' like instead of here are the rules.
Its not really so much a guide book we need, we just need some short things mods should look for and standardization of penalties.
Today's Birthdays
calendar 4 members are celebrating their birthday today
Dark_Marine_12(15), Darkling[125](15), Lisk(16), DarkDeath19(15)
Don't you think that's a little weird?
3 users celebrating their 15th birthday on the same day and they all start with "Dark"?
I find no common ip's between them.
Too many people use words like Dark, Dragon, Death, Knight, etc. It's all ridiculous and very unoriginal of them.

Why don't you check there activites and times they post.
Oh please. You're being so paranoid.
I wasn't going to post that but I completely agree with Moose. Who cares anyway?
Paranoid? I just have a thirst for blood.
ADDITION:
QUOTE
Images with external host must be under 100kb.
Where do you get that?
QUOTE
• Your ENTIRE signature must remain UNDER a width of 600 pixels and a height of 200 pixels. The Administrators are checking!
• When you click "update my signature", be sure to check the signature preview! It has rulers to show you how large your signature currently is. If the signature stretches beyond the rulers, change it RIGHT AWAY.
• Images with external hosts MUST be under 100kb
Go edit your signature and at the top you should see it.
Ah... thanks
Kinda both of you. But mostly you, Bold_Head.
Should I just forget this? I just think it would be kind of nice to have a list of standards for new moderators or kind of a way to synchronize our efforts.
I don’t see how this makes me paranoid though, don’t get me wrong you have the right to your opinion and I’m not trying to argue with you. But paranoid of what, unless my mental dictionary has failed me paranoid means fearing something will happen and being uneasy about it. Do you think I’m afraid were going to be mass spammed or something?
I'm staff, or avaluble member on most forums I go, so I don't really need this.
I think it's pointless now that DT cannot see it, and Aster and I are the mods of the "Other" section.
DT can't see it? What is DT moderating?
Just send a PM to all the mods when we finish.
DT is not a mod is he? He keeps on reporting things from categories where he used to moderate in.
The only day DT could actually see this was when I made him global for a day.

Standardization is good.
I'm going to install a mod that allows us godly people to write notes on member's profiles. Sometimes I just give people a verbal warning... I'd like to keep track of those... and other reasons.
That sounds great.
Are these notes only Mods can see?

You saying that I can put a note on X member because he uploaded something illegal in the DLDB. After a month when I forgot about it he does it again, I just check his profile and see all those warnings he had and make my desicion based on repeated offenses.
Thats what I got out of this, i didn't quite understant what you said IP.

So that's twice now you've insulted me, Bolt. Are you going to go by this or just continue to be a hypocrite.

Exactly it.
