Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Nuclear Missile
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Norvegia on 2004-12-15 at 15:38:52
I was wondering if its possible to change the attack power of the nuclear missile without any mod or something like that? If not I have another question. Is it possible to launch it without the need of a ghost and how can i make it impossible to fire it at some places?

jeg tror ikke at noen av delene går an

The only way to launch the nuke is to use a ghost. There is no other way. I am pretty sure you can't change the attack damage of the nuke.

I think you can tell the AI to have about 5 nukes to attack at one area so when all five nukes come down it will damage more.

Yeah, but Im gonna use the nuke in a golem map. And I dont want the players to be able to nuke directly at other players base.

You can remove the nuke when it's comming down, right before impact, and replace it with some outher effect. I'd been exparementing with this for a while. but I never had the exact interval... some where around 12 seconds if I'm remembering right. Also, as proven in minimooses map last dawn, if you move the ghost while it's calling a nuke, the nuke strike will be uneffected. Hope you can use some of this info.

What do you mean with this? When you order a ghost to nuke and tell it to move somewhere else it won't nuke. When you see the red dot and you tell the ghost to move it will cancel the nuke drop.

(WITH MODS)
1. I don't think this is possible
2. You cant launch the nuke without a unit; but you cangive the "Nulcear Missile" special ability to one or more other units.

I don't get what you mean. As in the unit has the Nuclear strike icon?! That is probably not what you mean but what do you mean?

Edit: Ohh wait...with mods.

And yes that is what I mean. Like a Goliath that can do a Nuclear Strike.

With mods, you can always give the Nuke ability to the Nuclear Silo. Then make it have unlimited range tongue.gif

Actually without mods, I've experimented with something called "Invisible Nukes."
I made a map where I calculated the size of a nuke effect and use locations and play sounds. You can always do that but you cannot make the nuke come down from the sky.

Actually you can't do it with MODs anymore. As far as I know MEMgraft was never updated to be compatible with the 1.11b patch.

What hell is MEMGraph? As far as I know, MPQ Draft still works...

I believe it is meant moved via move action/trigger

Yes, that is correct. You can have a ghost nuke, and then move (aka teleport) the ghost somwhere else on the map. The ghost won't cancel nuking the area unless the ghost is killed or is orderd to move (not teleport) somewhere on the map. I almost have map demenstrating all of the tricks I have seen with making a ghost nuke. When I am done, I will post it on SEN.

Just a bit of clarification:

Isn't Nuke damage either:

500 damage

or

3/4 of unit/structure max HP

(which ever is higher)?

I thought it was 2/3.

Neat Max, I could use that, biggrin.gif

ok people, you're start saying things that are wrong.
first of all, (and you can check it in blizzard.com) nukes does 1500 damege in the exacts area of impact, 3 aquares away it does only 1000, 3 more away it's 500, and 3 more away it's the end of it's splash range.
thus why ghosts with upgraded sight don't have to run way after shooting a nuke.
secondly, in mods you CAN change nuke's damege, with the simplest mod editor called Arensal3.
you just open Arensal's weapon editor choose the nuke and start clicking numbers.
you can also change the nuke's size of impact.
and you can use RetroGRP to give nuke a new graphc of some big fire mushroom.
and you can edit nuke in IceCC and tell it to have a new sound, and give it the sound of a real nuke (only quiter).
than you use memGraft, which HAS a version for 11.1 (you people should really visit SC.org more often), and remove ghost's ability to nuke and give it to the silo.
than you set the nuke ability in IceCC to work like comsat, you simple copy comsat's script and give it to nuke, replacing the nuke itself with those blue dots.
after you don't all that, you have a "reality nuke'.
nuke that you can launch to anywhere on the map, and have a real look, damege, and sound of a nuke.
the problems with that are:
1. man game won't be balanced anymore!!! as soon as terran will reach nukes in their tech it's game over for their foes.
2. it can't be don't in maps, only with mods.

if you don't belive me it can be done, I can make a mod doing that myself.
but I need someone sending me the sound and graphic for the nuke.

Damn it i hate it when people say this kind of crap. Of course you can do it with mods, more specificaly if your going to mod Starcraft its possable to do anything. Its like saying "if you make your own game you can do it" well no duh, shut up.

Most of us here only care about what we can do with the game called StarCraft, the one playable on Battle.net.

modding Starcraft usually does not mean modding the .exe hardcode.

The nuke does not do 1500 damage on targeted point or whatever you are saying. The nuke does percentage damage depending on the unit's HP. It varies from 50% to 99%.

The splash range for maximum damage is 8 squares, 12 squares for 50% damage, and 16 squares for 25% damage.

You can't change it by SF, only modding.

A nuke is a nuke and nothing can change a nuke in the game we call starcraft
