I'm probably stupid and missing something obvious, but how do you connect, let's say a Command Center and Nuclear Silo, in StarForge?

You can't because the grid is different from the addon ones. use the X-tra ediors other modes other than the special one. They can have preplaced addons.

I could be wrong about Starforge not being able to to have auto add-ons.

Another goo alternative would be to make the add-on work without he original building. That way you don't need both buildings or if you want to have both buildings you could just place them close enough to make it look like it was real.

but what if he want to be able build tanks in factory? or drop ships in starport? etc etc.
you have the addon to really be attached to the building...

attaching addons is possible in the original editor, in SCMdarft, in the xtra editors possible only in classic and pl12.
in SF you'll have to tell them to align to grid and use the original 32*32 grid, and place near each other (and makign the addon pl12 and building pl1-8).
that way they won't look attached in SF, but they will be when you open your map.

It's quite simple in Sf actually, I just posted different alternatives to use besides this. But yes if you want tanks you need them both attached.
Just make the 32x32 grid, which should be the default with each square being 1x1 in terms of tiles. Then just go to the options thing(I don't remember which exact menu it was) and then make the units attach to grid, that way it will always line up perfectly on the grid lines and it will be attached.

Sf doesn't align them right. It puts thing in the middle of four grids, on the corners. You can't do it in Sf unless you were to do each one manually by moving it up or down and left or right 16 pixels. Or changing the location it is on in the grid with properties.
