just like a gameboy a computer will control a character. Beacons will be the buttons such as A+B. To pause the game i will use the trigger pause game lol. i am hoping this will be a success. Just like a gameboy you will control the computer player.

Mabe some more information on the story, items, characters, and gameplay...

It does sound prety neat that wou will do something like this but how will you control the computer player? That could take up alot of locations...

Uhhhh sounds like a plan

Pause the game is risky because the player has no way to unpause it. Unless you have a wait or such.

well its quite easy to control the computer...ex.player 1(human) brings exactly one civilian to a button.
Action:
movelocation(marine,x,etc)
setalliancestatus(p4,enemy)
order(all,anyunits,p8,x,z)
and so on. there has to be alot of triggers tho.

No, you said you'd pause the game, with the Pause trigger, the player acts like it does in Lag Mode, same as Computer, it won't do anything, nor can it.

there would be too many locations wasted... if it was a 128x128 map... you would need 255 locations aroudn the corners of the map... not to mention inside the map...

I think it would be easier if you controled an air unit... observer... and where you move it you guys moves...

wouldn't you have to move the locations on the map to make samus move to them... example...

You go Up

You need a locations for samus to move too... but now it want to go sideways you need alocation beside her... but the location isn't in the right spot...

Im confused... lol

i think hes making it like this
he make a location on each coner
and one north west east and south
then the he moves the *D pad* down and it tells samus to move to location "south" get it?

Okay, it's not really very hard to make it, Oddangel.
For a long time I've been planning on making a Metroid map, and ever since the start, I've been planning on having a system them allows the player to control Samus to jump.
I'll have horizontal movement be normal; order the unit.
But it's not hard to make a trigger to teleport the unit up 1 space, up 1 space, up 1 space, up 1 space, down 1 space, down 1 space, down 1 space.
I'm not going to tell how I'm going to do it, but any advanced mappers could think of a way.

its just that I cant figure out how your going to move samus up and down witchought moving the locations...

If you are on the left side of the map and you wana go south you would go diagonal...

I like oddangels idea of observer. metroid follows the flying unit.

Although It should be a drop ship or shuttle.

And a command to attack. (Ally/unally)

When you unload a unit called attack, it will reload back into the dropship or shuttle and metroid will atack and kill that 1 unit and then re-ally.

Then you would have to unload the attack unit again.

If you truly want the ARCADE feeling. Also make boundaries with burrowed neutral invincable zerg units. so if you go out of bounds with your flying unit. you'll be moved back to your metroid.

Metroid will always ATTACK to the flying units location.

Some triggers needed:

*General Sumarized triggers so you can "GET THE PICTURE"*

A location to always be moved onto the flying unit.

A location to always be moved onto metroid.

Order command attack from Metroids location to flying location.

When unload attack unit from flying unit, set unally, reload attack unit into flying unit" metroid gains 1 kill score, re-ally, than remove that 1 kill score.(So it loops)

If Boundary unit is in the flying unit location, move flying unit to metroid location.

Or instead of having metroid always attacking to the flyunits location, make a trigger where if you bring your civ to the "Move metroid location" it will order metroid to attack to the drop ship.

I agree with him... That system is alot less buggy and stuff...

Because how would you handle attaking/defending with nothing to target... This would make it alot easier...

If you have the units in the shuttle that it follows that would be even cooler because you wouldn't even need to hotkey a dropship for spells or anything...
