Could I test? lol

Hm.
The water effect could be better, with, maybe, about 6 observers?
I don't really like pylon aura sprites, since they are the 'lag-master' as I heard them called once.

When you use the arches to make the cave walls, use more variety. Judging by your screenshots, I'd say that used the same arch over and over again -- try to avoid that.

The water efect seemed cool, infact the game itself seems cool. I hope i get to play it.

What do you mean by 6 observers... Observers don't make any water effect... Just test with the pylon aura and if it lags too mcuh tan change it. But remember, there is maybe someone in the game that lags, no nessecerly the pylons auras...

is it just me or is this guy copying qpirates ideas and style as far as terrain goes?

ADDITION:
Also those spider mines on the water and stuff, they look like $hit.

Ya, it's cool, maybe i<ll use it for Lands Of Chaos. There is a place witch it kind of Mistical and I like the effect!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by 007Torrasque on 2004-12-21 at 13:13:17
No turtle boy, it was piates terrain practive, anything o took would be from that, and i know the spidermines suck @$$

I think what he means by observers, is that they make a blurry affect.

If your not shared vision with the observers that is. Put them around the edge of the water aura. ANd it will look blurrylike.

After I saw pirates terrain i was going to implement it in my map...
Lots of people seem to be doing it but i still think pirate made it so he still deserves the credit...

PS: I like everything exept the city, and the begining pic...

Ideas For Improvement:

The Starting Pic...

Make the walls have arches even where there isn't water because it still should look like the inside of the cave. cave walls don't change that much...

The City:

Add more variaty... The civilians are all places in a grid formation.
The Bridge terrain could look different then the same terrain tile copyed over and over again...

I'd try and create more of a real feel for the City, to many cities and towns in RPG's are blank and nothing is moving, you need a little more activity!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ChaosRyder on 2004-12-21 at 19:08:31
Ya, there is no action or no nothing in the towns. Just civ standing there. The Landscaping looks great thought.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Spite on 2004-12-21 at 20:33:58
Yeah it would be cool if you had them walk to one place wait a while then walk back (not all at the same time) and be able to talk to them and they say different things depending on the different places there are standing happy.gif I dont know about you but i think that sounds cool.

Someone on Blizzforums, I think it was Min had a system to give everyone randomized quotes, which made it very neat and interesting. That would be neat for some people. I agree with Coko, If you have people moving around doing stuff and things, it would be a step higher than a lot of RPGs. Nice job 007, I liked the sprite ideas for the side of the cave instead of normal terrain, but that could take up a lot of sprites, lol. Only thing I have to really suggestis maybe stack the pylon auras in the first puic closer, because it looks weird haveing, because they don't blend well which is kind of annoying.

Hey, ZPD, if you thought his sprites were good, check the terrain practice link in my profile.
