i had high expectations when i went into playing this game, and i can say the game met them, graphicly it was stunning! abolosulty beautiful, the forest setting was a good choice and i liked it alot, Graphicly. gameplay wise was a little iffy on me, because when i started, i noticed one thing missing: The Solidtion Radar System! you know what this is, right? in MGS1 and MGS2, that radar screen that showed the cone of view and where your enemies are. this made the game a lot harder, sure there was the active sonar and the motion dector, but they weren't much help since they also picked up the animals in the forest as well as the enemies, but i got used to it very quickly. now you have to search the area to make sure you got all the enemies, i liked a new feature: interrogating enemies, thats always fun! but half the time i end up killing them when i am done. the charaters were pretty good in depth and such. Playing as Big Boss before he was Big Boss was pretty cool, and Ocelot was an interesting person as well. the weapons were interesing too, the M63 and the Shotgun were my favorites, espicaly since there hasn't been a shotgun in a MGS game before. Camoflouge was another interesting point of the game, constantly having to go in and change how you look was a bit annoying, but you got used to it. the boss battles...were my least favorite part of the game, they took a long time...like the battle with The End, that guy can hide! and the fear, who kept replieshing his Staminia, that bothered me. there are a lot of hidden features in the game, which makes the replay vaule really high, the storyline was interesting, with alot of unexpeced twists, leading right up to the end. once again, my favorite voice Actor: David Hayter (i think thats how you spell it) plays the voice of snake, i think Konami made a good choice in picking snake's voice actor, not to mention everyone elses. there is plently of grown-up-humor and naughty bits, so it does deserve the rating M it got. the mini-game, Snake vs Monkeys (a play off of Ape Escape) provides some mindless fun, with the twist of getting some bonus items. the only two things i really missed from this game was the beeping sound of the Codec and the Soltion Radar, i really could have used the latter. overall, this game surpises it's two predicators and it's worth the money to buy.

When I read this review, I get the feeling that you are a huge newb. You miss the soliton rader yet, it was not necessary and made the game much more fun. You said the bosses were too hard and long. The fear is easily beaten in less than three minutes. All you do is equip thermal goggles and shot all the poisonious food around him and load him up with tranq rounds. The End takes about ten. The directional mic is your best friend =D. Did you even tranq the bosses or did you lethaly dispose of them? One thing I don't like about the game (and every other MGS game at that) is the quick reload feature. It totally cheeses guns that have long reload times such as the single action army, RPG-7, and the M63. I am kind of pissed at the game though because I played through a second time to shoot all the kerotan frogs and I beat it tonight to find out that I must have missed one or two because I didn't get the reward =/. Its ok though because I was planning on playing it through again no kills/alerts/under 5 hours/ under 25 saves/ 0 life medicine used which gives you the infinite ammunition facepaint and the stealth camo item.

I could of brought the game, but My folks told me that I can't ing have it for some reason though. The game looks really great, Also. I like your review too! Gives me a lot of info about it!

to your reply pear, i tranqed most of the bosses, expect for Volgin, everyone else got tranqed, volgin just pissed me off so i loaded him up with M63 rounds

snake eater is a good game better graphics better gameplay AND u can make snake NEKED

Easy way to beat volgin is to CQC him to the ground then roll over him. Also if you equip the mask, he thinks you are Ivan and you can get a few free shots in with the MK22. Also isn't this Kojima's last Metal Gear game? I read on a site somewhere that they are considering bringing the series on line. Imagine the battle with 'The End' but with another person!! Or at least that how I think it would be. I freakin hope Kojima doesn't bail on us because at the end of Metal Gear Solid 2, you can tell there will be another game. I just hope its made by Kojima because last time a Metal Gear game was made by someone other than him (Snakes Revenge) it sucked in a big way. Wouldn't it be awesome if the remade the origional Metal Gear 1 & 2 games? And also remade Metal Gear Solid 1 for PS2 instead of Gamecube ><. Such bs lol

Yes Ivan is Radienovich. The Metal Gear game for nes was crap. It was first released on MSX or something like that and that was the good version. I liked the ending a lot. It kinda tells us why Big Boss later betrays the U.S. and starts a mercenary group. Also I don't know if you caught this or not but there are three secret R1 views in the end cutscenes. One is right after you kill The Boss, you can see the Boss and The Sorrow hugging. One is when Big Boss is shaking hands with the President, you can see Ocelot hiding outside of the big window (We all knew he was working for the US anyway) And when Big Boss is at The Boss's grave, you can go into FPV and the screen blurs up because he is crying. Pretty cool.

i may of just noticed this, but Ivan Raidenovich Rinkov looks a lot like Raiden, and he has raiden right in his name Ivan RAIDENovich rinkov. but yeah, i just beat it a second time and got the Cold War Camo, i was wondering, does the monkey mask you get from Snake vs monkey do ANYTHING?

P.S. i think playing with the SAA in first person view reduces it reload time...drasticly if you do it long enough

yea i knew some stuff about the end of the game with the 3 FPV

and ill have to try that with the SAA(just got it again restarting)

and also if you grab the SAA on the right in the plane i think you start with it on the next play(ill confirm later today after i pwn the game again)

Raieden Vouchi also looks a lil bit like Raiden if you look hard enough at the girly looks and he gets stuffed in the locker with Raidens pic on it lol

anyway... teh game over all had a nice twist in the end wit h him showing that he is BIG BOSS i loved that i was fooled but then again i was reading the timeline at the end and it said

the sons of Big boss were born 1972 that was awsome

I got Metal Gear Solid 3 the first chance I had. It's a good game and the story was top-notch (I really love the ending), but I still enjoy Metal Gear Solid 2 more.

i think MGS1 was way better than 2 but 3 just kicks!

in The battle with The Boss(the girl in MGS3) when you look around there are 3 trees lieing down on the ground around each of them will be a snake that you can kill or trank to eat they each put your stamina up high and tast great

look for them they each have the names of the Children of Big Boss

I take it from what all of you are saying, is that Snake Eater is better then MGS?? If so i'll be damned. MGS is the king off all stealth games.. apart from maybe the Tenchu series... they own when it comes to the stealth kills and the whole stealth appeal. I'm jusy gonner have to buy MGS3 and judge for myself if it is better then MGS, it better be for making me wait so long from playing MGS2 which almost turned me off of all the MGS's. Anyone bothered downloading custom camos for the game? I hear there are a few neat ones.

MGs2 well i hated Raieden so it sucked but nice appeal and was fun as hell blwing up!!!!!(cough C4 cough)

MGs3 teh best MGS around so far Jungle and Camo Index is fun teh soldiers can walk on you sometiems if you dont move and have a nice index of liek 90 or 95

Cool stuffs

Shoot all 64 little green frogs that make noise in a save file and you will get teh Stealth camo(note if you shoot frogs in a game and you beat it nad save the frogs you shout will be carried to the next save) (this is something im too lazy to do)

Beat The pain, the fear, The Joy(the boss) with the Trankalizer gun and get cool Camos
Hold up The end to get his Camo
and Trankalize him to get his Gun(this is a Sniper rifle that will shoot out Trankalizer darts)

Go to the end of The Sorrow's River and get killed by him and use your Revival P. (tooth) and you will have a Camo called Sperit Camo

You can also get the stealth camo by beating the game with zero kills/alerts (i'm working on it now). Found another hidden R1 cutscene. When snake is healing himself after being thrown off the rope bridge. During that cutscene you can push r1 and look to the right to see The Sorrow's skeleton.

I knew someone would agree about Tenchu. But.. Tesshu is so much cooler, come on.. Doctor by day.. Assassin by night.. Hehe Im gonna have to get off me butt and go get myself a copy of MGS3 then. MGS2, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? They said fortune was actually magical! OMFG! MAGIC IN MGS? Well you get the picture, it just doesnt work MGS and Magic.. Raiden made MGS2 craptastic, the main thing that was good about MGS2 though, is european extreme... so much fun

There is also a few hidden R1s in the game that show EVA and The Boss mocking Ocelot by doing his hand gesture behind his back. lol Why do people bash MGS2 so much. So what if you had to play as Raiden. I mean, Raiden was pretty cool. Don't slam him just because he took Snake away from you =p. And MGS2 was more kick ass gameplay from the awesome Kojima. The game was fun and the story was freaking awesome.
