Well, more games have been announced on the DS so far... Let's just wait to see which has better games mmkay?
And for the thread maker it's Nintendo DS, not Gameboy DS.
Anyway, I'd get a DS over a PSP for a couple reasons:
1. Price The DS is only $150 and games can be saved in the cartridge. The PSP however is around $189 and you will have to add the cost of buying a 32mb memory stick to save games which brings it above $200. And if you want to buy a memory stick that can actually hold lots of songs, movies, etc, then you will probably want a 128 or 256mb stick which I bet costs $50 or even more.
2. Battery LifeAccording to Gamespot, battery life when running Ridge Racer was 90 minutes to 3 hours... Of course it is nice that when you recharge, it automatically gets you to the place you were at, but when compared to the DSs 10 hours of gameplay, it doesn't come close. And GS has also said that when playing with friends, your battery life is even WORSE.
3. DesignThe PSP has great specs, but according to GS "the front of the system picks up fingerprints rather easily." When you look at the DS, the fold design actually PROTECTS the screens from finger prints and what not.
4. Loading TimeAccording to GS,
"Ridge Racers loads for about 15 seconds up front, and from there, getting into or out of a race takes another 10 to 15 seconds."
Wow, so in order to race 4 races, you will have to wait a minute just for it to load. And again since the PSPs battery life is going to be short, this will make it worse. When you compare it with the DSs NO loading time, it's an insult.
5. ProblemsNintendo has a good history of keeping their products durable. I have seen numerous reports of disc errors on the PS2 and even a law suit has been filed against Sony. Even now, there are reports of numerous defects of PSP such as buttons not work, disc "shooting", pixel errors... I have not seen a major complaint of DS so far.
6. InnovationWith the PSP, it is great how it is a multi task device such as playing music, video, etc... but it doesn't play music as well as, say the Ipod. It does many things, but they are mediocre. We have seen these things before. However, the DS incorporates new ideas with 2 screens, a touchpad, and a microphone. Heck the DS even comes with a free demo!
7. ValueIf you have never tried a GBA, well this is a bonus to you. The DS will play GBA carts in better quality than a GBA! I have 3 GBA games right now and I can't wait to see them on a DS. This is a great bonus because even if you don't like the current launch games, you can always play some GBA classics like Advance Wars and they look better on the DS! It's like getting 2 systems!
Nintendo has had 8 competitors in the handheld industry and none has come close of dethroning the big N.
