I have been working on a new map (see sig below.) I need to bea able to disable players. For example I wont players 1-4 and players 7-8, but I dont wont players 5-6. How or what would I do to disable them or make them not be characters in game.
Well you need to go into player settings and set the players you don't want in the game to not used and inactive and they won't be in the game.
or...
simply don't create start locations for those players, any player (except pl12) that has no start location won't appear in the game, even if it's in active forces.
you don't need to disable players at all, you need to enable them, by placing a start location for them.
also, whenever the start location is - there will be the sight for that player in the beggining of the game.
Thanks ALOT aqo, and replicate! Now I can get back to work on my new map.
Glad to help.

you're also going to want to disable the 'Random start locations' checkbox under the 'Forces' tab, or you may get strange things happening.
Players above 12 seem to stay without start locations, I know P161 does and stuff, but yeah, it works for P 1-8, I don't know what it does for P 9-11 though =\

The only reason for start locations is melee building placement, since every map can be played in melee and blizzard didn't want people's maps to crash they made the start location unremovable for players 1-8 which could be played as human.
they never thought tho that the others players will come into use too and thus why placing a start location for them is unneccecary.
All players show up without start locations. With the exception of human players.
Just don't give the players you don't want (Player 5 and Player 6) Start Locations.
