Well, seeing as many people are curious about the Uber level, and I personaly wanna know too, what are exactly the requirments for being Uber?
all it said in the profile was:
QUOTE
There is an Uber map skill setting, but that is configured by administrators if they think you're a good map maker.
what's 'good'?
I'll be glad if an admin or mod or whatsoever who can set ppl to Ubers will post here and write a list like, for example:
Uber:
1. need to know how to...
2. have to be able to...
3. should be a...
4. he needs to...
etc etc.
so, will some admin/mod/whatsoever will be kind enought and tell?
Just look at the maps the Uber people have made.
Ya, Look at Bolt_Head(U)'s maps, he made some kickass maps!
and Moose's Uberena thats fun

i think i have an addiction

heh... so is it like, if I can do all triggers that were used in maps by Uber people and I release a map using them I'll become Uber?
and if everyone likes it I guess so.
You could have all the complex triggers you want. If the map sucks, it still sucks. I think there weren't requirements set to keep it open to interpretation on case by case basis for us.
Question: why does it matter?
It matters because he want to know how to get Uber.
Uber really doesn't have any set requirements, we(the mods/staff/admin) have to be impresed by several of the maps you've made.
Almost every one of your maps needs to be a hit.
You need to have knowledge of almost everything in Mapmaking including almost everything in the Tutorials.
basicly we just say this guy is very good at mapmaking. Then we make our own little poll and decide wether or not he's worthy for Uber.
Exactly what I was thinking, "Why does it matter?"
And anyways, just providing a list of need-to-knows wouldn't work.
People could just research those particular things and put them in a

ty ass 5 minute map.
Although I am not a moderator, here's a list of the things that you'll probably want to look at to get Uber...
A: Original map
B: Complex trigger
C: Not so fugging ugly that it burns your eyes(i.e. pure white terrain and dark brown units placed in random areas and random explosions for no reason)
D: Fun
I believe there are only 5 people on SEN that have the Uber skill. They are:
1) (U)Bolt_Head
2) Tuxedo-Templar
3) MiniMoose2707
4) Nozomu
5) Yoshi_Da_Sniper
A person with an Uber skill knows the limits, and works up to the limits, of Starcraft.
They are good at math and can easily plan and accomplish complex triggering.
They are creative and/or can come up with something new.
It was orginally implanted due to the complaints of people that anyone could set their skill level to "advanced" without actually proving any skill. Individuals who requested help often would depend on the advice of map makers who really did not know what they were doing.
As a temporary solution, the "Uber" map making skill was created for those individuals who show greater map making skill. At this moment, I think its been forgotton, I think a "Uber Skill Request Topic" should be created somewhere, where admins and mods can properly decide if an individual should have an Uber skill level (I dont know why Deathknight isn't Uber

)
QUOTE(Mini Moose 2707)
Why does Deathknight have the Über mapping skill? I have yet to see a full map by him. He may be an uber programmer, uber glitch finder, but uber mapper? No way.
Don't try to find it, it's in the secert forum.
Well, actually, i don't really see any point of there being a Map making skill level.
I mean not like it matters, but no one really pays much attention to those. Even some beginners can give just as good advice as some advanced or even Uber people.
I'm not that great at Map Making and I have helped some people before with simple questions, but when it comes to some stuff I just don't know.
To Moose:
This is map making skill, not number of maps made. It is based on the KNOWLEDGE of map making.
Besides, I will bring you a full map if that is what you want.
theres a secret forum in SEN! GASP! ill make that my life long dream to find that forum or to glance at it

The Uber people are members of the community who have proven time and again that they know what they're talking about when it comes to just about every aspect of the StarCraft system. In my case, I've been posting in many of the same StarCraft forums as Bolt for like a year and a half now, and he's seen how good I am. I personally think that DeathKnight should be Uber from what I've seen of his conceptual work. Not all of the Uber people necessarily have an Uber map out there.
Way to post crap from the Admin forum right in the open.
Though it sounds like opening a topic for Uber discussion/nominations there sounds like a good idea.
dont worry moose, i kinda already knew about a "secret forum" from other peopls less programmed sites that say "moderators only!"
I was surprised when i joined there wasn't a 'mods only' forum, I get it now.
Perhaps there should be something next to the Über ranking that says that person knows what they're talking about, because newcomers may not know that Über is a special rank. Just a random idea, not that great but w/e.
I set Dabbu and Evildrone(U) to uber as well so add them to your list.
Also i think the purpose of "uber" should be re-evalulated. I have been considering setting my skill to "Advanced" not because i don't think I'm uber but because i don't want people thinking well "I'm Good but i don't know everything like Bolt so i'll put Advanced". I would rather the people who are thinking along those lines to see me as Advanced and think "well

i'm not that good" and therefore set themselfs to Average.
Of course that applys to the other Uber Members but i wouldnt' want to take there rank away from them.
I think the "Uber" Rank should be renamed to Advanced+ that way it doesn't stand out as much and doesn't sound as impressive. And infact What im proposing isn't exactly a above advanced rank like the "Uber" has seem to become but instead it is more of proven advanced members. We could get a small staff of advanced members to basicly cast votes towards specific members weathor or not they actually advanced or not. And once they have like 3 of 5 votes they get Advanced+
PS. I thought of giving Deathknight the uber rateing but i have always considered it to be heavly Trigger insensive. Deathknight deals alot with bug factors of SC. Don't get me wrong he is damn good at it. Knows alot more in that area than I do. But I havn't really ever seen any of his maps or been impressed by his triggering creativity/skill so thats why I havn't personally changed his rank.
Personally, I'm forming a new view of Uber.
I think Über should be for the people who are seeking assistance and need someone who knows thier stuff. Thus, we should look at the Assistance Forum and see who's providing the best solutions to problems. The skill level system was created for helping people, wasn't it?
