You can play other sound louder at the same time to make it look like it has a different sound, but actually changing the sound itself is only possible in mods.

actually, no.
Blizzard made a program that allows you to switch out sounds in starcraft for something else. (ex. switching the marine's machine gun sound to a bomb like sound)

Yea but only you will hear the change unless everyone else is running the same Mod. If you just switch sounds it'll work on b.net alright. Even if just graphics too cool1.gif .

Actually, you can switch sounds locally with the Sound Extractor. No modding required.

Moose, you would be changing the sounds, thus modifying Starcraft. Called a modification.

No, you can not override sounds. Chop the sound up and stream it like a midi. You can then stop it when you want.

Better yet, you can disable the sound through starcrafts game menu thing and just play the sound when the nuke comes.

You can change teh sound by using the blizz extractor to extract the wavs from stardat file and then switch them but they cannot be changed for all players playing on the net.

Like he said, if you play multiple sounds at once they overlap and create a different effect. But, be careful that you dont do too much at once because it can freeze SC. There was this joke map that tells you all these lies in the briefing and then as soon as the game starts it plays the transmission wav like a million times at once and your SC freezes playing a single tone... it was annoying...
