I'm just wondering if Starforge might be better to use than Xtra Editor. If you could give an opinion i would appriciate it.

It really depends on what you're trying to achieve. If you want to do super sexy terrain, use StarForge. If you want to do fast, easy triggers, use SCXE. It's all a matter of opinion, too. Some people like StarForge better, others, SCXE. Not being a PC user, I have no opinion.
I use both, I only use Starforge for the Player colors, and other stuff, I use X-tra for the triggers, Terrian, Sounds, Mission Briefing, Locatons, You name it, On Starforge you have to do your triggers manully, And that makes will add more time to your map to get finished. But When you use X-Tra it will shorten the time it takes to get your map finished. They both have their diffences, So my opinion is: You choice what you think best.
EDIT: Just fixing some spell errors.
I agree with nuclearrabbit and TSoldier_Wol[f],
Making a map have 7 steps:
1. get a map idea.
2. create the terrain.
3. place units and locations.
4. create the triggers.
5. test.
6. fix bugs.
7. release.
Every step needs different tools, imo, those are the best tools to use:
1. a big fat dictionary.
2. SCMdraft
3. StarForge
4. SCXE
5. SC:BW
6. StarForge
7. Bnet, SEN, WB, SC.org, and any other net portal you can think of.
So basicly, there is no 'best' of the tools.
Teoretically SF is the best because it can do 98% of all what the two other editors can do, but practicly making triggers is much faster in SCXE and it'll be just a whast of time using SF to do so... unless you have only few small changes to do in already existing map.
So if you're wondering if SF might be better than Xtra, yes, in many cases, but Xtra can be better in some cases too, so use em' all to your needs and you'll be fine.
Starforge is hard to manipulate. And many things are messing... But you can use sprites and extract Original SC sound and use grid and don't use it, can change Pcolor and do many tricks.
Xtra is more neat. Everything is working fine. All the triggers work and it' easy to use Text.
I use them both but use X-Tra editor more than Starforge. X-tra is the faster and easier to use of the two

I use both as well, X-Tra for the main map and triggs and Starforge for all the touchups (Player color, sprites, etc.) X-tra is more bug free, since its a moded version of Staredit
right now i only use SF just because it seems Superior but i do like X-tra it was my first good Editor i liked it alot
but when i found SF im like sw33t! and though oh maby i can make a bound but i didnt understand teh triggers until teh new ver(woot i get teh triggers al teh way now!)
Ya just like the others have said!
XTRA for trigs
and SF for the sexy nifty terrain even though the isometric terrain sucks my left nut
I use Xtra to do many of my triggers and SF for placing units on the grid, terrain, and editing trigs for p9-12 or making trigger changes because sometimes its faster than doing it in Xtra, also I use Xtra for locations because in SF they are hard to manipulate
I only use SCXE and sometimes SCMDraft 2 if I need to have something stacked in a map or placing couple sprites around. I never use fancy square tiles so SF doesn't really do anything for me.
I use starforge for everything except doing the things that it cannot do yet. The triggers are way faster than SCXE and ths square terrain is good. I use draft for isometric terrain. If you just started with and ediotr I would sujest X-tra editor because the triggers are easier to use if you don't know how to use the starforge ones.
It all depends on if you know how to use starforge triggers and which you prefere.
Oh and also Xtra is also easier to debug because you can see all the triggers without having to open up each one, you can get a better feel of what each trigger does, and you dont need comments

Finnaly someone with sense. Starforge triggers are FASTER and BETTER than SCXE triggers. You can copy cut and paste. You can find and replace. Need I go on?
Xtra-Unit naming(+EASY COLORING), triggers for the non-1337 super-mappers, isometric terrain, 'smooth' interface look (in my opinion), addons without main building (one of the modes can do this, alternative was it? I forgot), StarEdit style locations
SF-Square terrain, 'ubar 1337 triggarz' (Super LEET Triggers) system (NOT GOOD FOR BEGINNERS/AVERAGE PEOPLE), adding players that aren't 1-8 and 12, addons that aren't snapped to the grid, sprites, stacking, odd locations, player color changing
Did I mention you can get square terrain in Xtra? Just make square terrain in SF and open the map in Xtra. The square terrain is pretty hard to use though, you have the same isometric cursor to use.
IMO, Xtra is best, but maybe I've spent too much time with StarEdit before moving on to Xtra. I do have SF and SCMdraft2 hangin' around if I need either of them.
You're just too lazy to learn how to type a few words.
Starforge works perfectly for everything but isometric terrain, and SCMdraft covers that.
I use replace in notepad for everything, it takes like 1 second to change the whole trigger
SF for terraining, SCXE for everything else.
O and, whenever i use SF, it deletes all of my sounds

heres my opinion...
x-tra editor for melee maps and terrain...
starforge for bound maps and triggering...
and for most ums, try blending x-tra editor with starforge making it advanced...
and by the way i have been making maps for 2 years and i am wondering what type of map you are making, maybe i could help you with it, just private message me if you have any questions etc
StarForge is what I like use, I used X-tra once, but I eventually moved on to SF when it came out.
With SF you can perfect terrain, and complete triggers much faster. SF also has sprites, stacking, player colors, and more. I don't really care about sound in my maps.
X-tra is complete and neater, but I feel SF is superior.
Once I have my isometric terrain done in the original 'SC Campaign Editor', I just move in with SF, and do whatever I want to it.
As for any bugs in SF, I can usually easily find ways around them.
Really I say it depends on the map. I only use starforge on maps I need it for. Like placing p12+ units, etc.
Really depends on what you are trying to achieve. I personally prefer SCXE, mostly for everything. I don't really like isometric terrain much, simply because of all the clutter that it creates when not done properly. Probably the only thing I use SF for is terrain for full-iso terrain and/or sprites. However, I do sprites last. I do think that SF has a much more superior triggering system than SCXE, with the quick capabilities it has; however, if you want to play it safe and effecient, stick with SCXE. There are standard things I always have when I make maps:
- SCXE 2.5 (Probably not 2.6)
- SF (Latest, whichever Heimdal has out)
- GUEdit (I prefer using GUEdit for Player Colors, I just feel safer that way)
- PROEdit (Latest)
- SCMDraft (Original. The first one has a lot of capabilities that I wouldn't afford to lose, and it has much more effeciency than I trust with SF. I also use SCMDraft as a corruption filter, it works sometimes, since SCMDraft has a clever trick with those things.)
- SWW Color Program (Very nifty)
Other stuff:
=======
DrunkenWrestler's Color List
Kill Score Chart
Spell List (Conditions)
Notepad (I make a huge list of things that I encounter during tests that I need to so I don't forget. I just delete lines of Notes when I'm finished fixing them.)
