Staredit Network -> UMS Showcase -> Classic Zelda
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Blu on 2005-01-03 at 11:11:29
This is a good idea for something new on starcraft. Maybe someone else can continue this idea. If you need anything, just pm me.

MapType: Action/Adventure | One Player
Game is situated on a lot of maps?

Terrain

-Squared Terrain
-Terrain will try to simulate the same terrain as in Zelda.
-Figure out how to do the forest area (in which you much follow a certain direction to exit)

Triggers

-LikeLike: How to make link lose something when attacked by a LikeLike.
-Uncloaked DT: need to look that up later yawn.gif
-Randomness in gaining Rupees, Items, Etc.
-Sounds for sure.

Units

-Uncloaked DT for Link
-Zoras might be guardians, or something else?
-Got suggestions for units? Tell me.

Link and Weapons

-Links Hearts are displayed in the top right corner (working out)
-The units will attack a ling thats under Link.
-Some items to work out later
-Bombs: How will this work?
-Arrows: Unit attack or trigger use attack?
-Wands of Fire and Ice: ?
-Hookshot: Also something to work out (Thinking of making a scourge over link, and you get 7 seconds -/+ to hook it onto a Psi emitter?)

Bosses

-N/A for the moment.

Shops

-Rupees will be displayed at the top right corner as a unit group that looks like a number.
-Shops will sell simple items, unless they also sell important items.[/COLOR]

To uncloak s DT You must preplace the DT for Playwer 161, then give it to the Human Player. The DT will appear Uncloaked..

Well, a 2D/3D kind like starcraft is was looking coold but anyway...it's your decision.

The map sound okay. But are you sure you're going to do this? Look like you don't know where to start...

Well, the thing is, my starforge map edit wont work. im trying to uninstall all starforge progs as we speak.

[on topic]
Well, im gonna start on terrain, and work my way through triggers. Im not too sure on how to do the game (1 big map or 9 small maps?) Also, if anyone has some classic zelda music/sounds, id be glad to use them.

For Starforge, go into your Regedit Editor and find it under 'Local_Machine > Software > StarForge' and delete all that before reinstalling. - CK

If you have played the origional (NES) you might know what this is going to be.

This wasn't in the original Zelda.

Requirements if you're actually going to make it:

•Link must not be directly controlled by the human player. Must use a relative movement system.

•Take a building(most preferably the Starport), and use that. 4 of the units will be movement directions, one for the sword, then lift to pause. For boomerang and stuff you will use a combination of units, maybe use move and attack at the same time.

•For water, use pylon auras and gun traps(depending on the terrain).

•For Zoras or whatever, use a recall, and have a lurker unburrow, then shoot a "fireball" towards link, then have the recall effect come again and have it burrow at the same time.

•For music, play sounds as if it were a midi. It's easier because there aren't any real instruments and it will dramatically lower the filesize, also you can stop the music whenever you want.

Those are some pointers for now.

Well...

-Making link move by building units is.. well... not thats its not a bad idea, but it would make the game less user friendly. (i mean, having to always press w to go down??)

-Well, i havent really played much of Classic Zelda. So im just guessing as i go. Im also using game faqs happy.gif. There is no hook shot, so thanks for telling me, moose!! happy.gif

-Im not on crack.

-Maybe there would be 1 big map then, but it would be reaaaaaly hard to fit all the areas and stores onto it. o.o naybe it could be 3 maps, one for stores, one for the main map, and one for dungeons yawn.gif

Also:

I didnt know i had requirments, Death.

This game will probaly use the unloading system (unload a unit to use it yawn.gif)

I am still trying to get my StarForge back on, so i can start on working the map.

You can do the terrain with scmdraft until you figure out how to get StarForge up. No custom brushes =\ but you can still do square terrani and tile index, just takes longer.

The building units is because of hotkeys. W would be to go up BTW. It would be more user friendly than the dropship system in my opinion. If you're going to do your own thing then call it something else, that is a suggestion. Because I hate maps that are called the exact same thing as the real games, but the maps don't even have the feel. Since it's also "single player only", maybe you could make a modification of it.

If you make a mod you could easilt change hotkeys to WSAD, and even arrange the units in the building like the keys.

Maybe make a spellbook with unit hotkeys 1,2,3 etc

I just realised... that this will possibly be outside my level of map making! i thought this was going to possibly be easy, but then again...

I was wondering maybe this could be moved to the map ideas forum? maybe someone else might like the idea, and could continue with this.

I already have planned in my head how to do a legend of zelda map. The zelda will be controlled directly by the player, and would indeed be a DT... AFTER getting hurt. At first he would be a marine with 1 life. When he then dies the DT spawns. Zelda was 16x8 screens, meaning 128. Plus about 20 for each level. (9 of them) makes about 300 screens. 12x20 is a screen size in SC. x300 = 72000. 256x256=65536. Not quite enough room to make a complete map of zelda if you plan on doing each zelda screen as an SC screen.

Why would you want to make control of the unit with a building? The player doesn't have direct control of the unit in the real game? And all this talk about multiple maps...bleh. You said you want one maps for the stores, one for main maps, and one for dungeons. There is no way to do that.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kashmir on 2005-01-06 at 14:52:43
You don't control Zelda in LoZ.... you control Link... sheesh i would have figured you'd realized that by now.

lol sorry. ive played through the LoZ first game many times. it never really has him say anything so i always assumed that he was zelda until recently. =/ oops?
