Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Units walk on Null?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ViLe(U) on 2005-01-04 at 01:58:28
I am shameful for showing my ignorance to a topic of such a simple subject. However, I need to know how this is done. There is a map I am working on that requires I do this for unique purposes, and If anyone could help me that would be GREAT. The question is:

How do you place units on Null?

Then while I reconsider, it could be done several different ways, like making them sprites instead of regular units. Would this be true or not? If so, I would need to know the exact process at which it is done. I'm very thick in the head. Thanks for the help!

There is a certain null tile where it allows you to place units on and walk on... I did this once but i can't exactly remember... it's either the null tiles to the right of the Water tiles or to the right of the Creep Tiles.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I LOVE YOU! Thank you so much. You are awesome. It worked beside the creep terrain, and i could not try for water, but i am assuming that magma would have been the proper replacement for water. wink.gif thx so much you are the best.

...You HAVE to use SF :\

why not SCM draft 2? It has it's own version of SF'S master pallet.

No you don't. You can use SCMDraft 2, and GUEdit.

Any of those editors work as long as it aint SCXE or some other editor similar to that.

Standalone programs are better, but I prefer SF because the tile pallete in SCM2 is slow and it refreshes TWICE every time you go down one line. I just dont like it, it becomes an eyesore.

They actually aren't standalone, they do require some files that are installed with Starcraft.

And some VB and/or Java runtime files.

I saw someone show me a map where when you send units onto null land, they begin to do some sort of dance and become inmovable.

Yeah you can't control them very well when there on the null terrain. Its like a SCV in a feild of buildings, you can move it but it doesn't like to go.

The 1-13 null tile (the one by the creep) can be walked on fine, just as long as you don't move it off of it, which is what a lot of people use it for.
