Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Is it possible to create a "mood system"?

I was wondering if it was possible to make a "mood" system for computer characters in a game

I.E.

You go into a shop once and the shopowner is happy

The second time you go in the shopowner isn't happy

then you go in again and the shop owner is eager

etc....

and if it is wouldn't i just use switches?

Its just randomization. Unless your basing it on events that happen in the game.

Like you walk in once and the store owner is upset because of all the civs that have died. I was intending for pretty much an Intire map to revolve around concepts like this. Even to the point of changing the game objective itself.

For a map like that it would be cool to be able to answer people with different responses. And if someone in the town talks down to you or picks on you or w/e your mood is lowered and your replies become negative. Same with people who are nice to you too. And maybe you could do something that lowers your mood if you have been in battle for a while and people will notice scratches and bruises you have from fighting. Wow that'd be fun. Lots of strings though =/.

ya but i think that would be one hell of an addition to any RPG so I am going to try and pull it off you know like:

Conditions:
P1 kills 1 Boss
Set switches

Actions:
Randomize switches
Displaytext(Happy Mood for player)

Yeah, if you want them to say stuff or react differently to recent events in the game (like dead bosses) then you would just use switches to control their speech.

i am a expert map trigger person... ya know and i dont normaly do things but why not have it so...

judging on his hygine, happy level, tierdness, bladder like so for instance...

he has a shower that makes his hygine level go up or he goes to toilet...

and judging on how thoose levels are... if he needs the loo badly and is so tired he can faint... he will be un happy or if he is rested well, perfectly clean he may be happy tongue.gif trigering for this is easy just use units so each time he has shower create 5 ling at location hygine level or create 5 ling at happyness level it can be done many way if your smart then you'll make it a good map cool1.gif

ADDITION:
w00t.gif w00t.gif i would also like to add that this is 100% my idea and i enjoy a challenge, if anyone here would like to challenge me in advice for there maps like this one, try me tongue.gif i'm all ears and all solutions biggrin.gif

P.S...

a man who copys from someone else's idea is afraid that his own may not be good and that is why he copys because he thinks the person can do better than him, can you do better than me?? w00t.gif w00t.gif

I made one of the first mood systems or I'm making them. In my map Special Ops(Look in my signature) the commander gives you orders. Depending on how you did your last the commander will be pleased, dull, angry or insulting at you.

It's a bit buggy and you have to play the map very different ways in order to notice it, since it's an alpha and it's unbalanced.

The triggering is quite simple you just have to use switches and thats it.
IE: Current Player lost the mission. Set Switch "Angry"

Then you will create a web of switches like if he was angry but you then succeded, he will be less angry and you just keep going on and on.

A long time ago somebody made a The Sims map, and it had some boxes of units in the corner, that belonged to a green and a red player. It monitored your hygeine, rest, hunger, etc by giving units to one or the other. So all greens would be fully rested, and there would be a wait trigger that gave one to red every 2 minutes or so. It was simple but worked very well. Just make sure that they cant do anything to the units, or there will be huge glitches.
